Favorite Quote:
"I trust you absolutely, dear lady, but Saint-Just's life is forfeit to his country...it rests with you to redeem it." - Chauvelin, SP Chap 10
Birthday:
June 13th
Character's Full name:
Armand Chauvelin (a.k.a. Bernard-Francois, Marquis de Chauvelin)
Occupation:
Accredited Agent/Ambassador to the Court of St. James for the Republic of France
Physical Description:
A clever, shrewd-looking personality, with a curious fox-like expression in his deep, sunken eyes. Dark brown hair, of medium length and tied back; about 5'5"; oddly pale green eyes that can, at first glance, be mistaken for yellow. Angular face, and a sturdy but diminutive build. He is thin and pale,
with thin lips, talon-like hands, and dark hair which of late has
plentifully sprinkled with gray. He is almost always frazzled, but manages never to look it. Chauvelin is known to always wear black.
Friendships/Relationships:
Chauvelin has a daughter, Fleurette, his wife is deceased, and he has few friends, none intimate. He wisely keeps his own counsel in this age where confidences can lose heads.
Personal History:
Armand was born (March 19, 1756) to the fairly well-known de Chauvelin family, slated to inherit his
father's title, and at nineteen years married the daughter of another highly placed family of the time. His social standing (and renouncement thereof) directly prior to the Revolution aided Chauvelin's path to an important position in the newly formed Republic He was elected to represent Dauphine in the Third Estate, and has since served the newly formed government.
Chauvelin's sense of justice is the most important aspect of his life, and though he often has trouble balancing it against his family concerns, it is doubtful that he would ever override it for something as
thin as blood. He is organized, easily stressed, extremely impatient, eternally civil, and rarely pleasant to be around - although he tends to show his better side (his loyalty, and something resembling warmth) to his friends and loved ones, few as they are.
Character's connection to the Revolution:
Chauvelin's occupation ties him closely to some of the most fearful aspects of the post-Revolution 'clean-up'. He has a record of notable participation in earlier events during France's path to freedom.
The League:
He's bent on destroying the little blighters.
