EVANGELISTIC SIMPLICITY

What is evangelism and why do we like to make things so complicated? I always had the desire to share the biblical Gospel message. I also know how this simple yet amazing message has the power to change peoples life’s. But so much of what I have seen made me to want nothing to do with the term evangelism or the office of the evangelist. But I always enjoyed and involved myself in street evangelism, nightlife evangelism and to go to places that other people fear to go to. Evangelising the drug addict, the prostitute, the gay or lesbian is not the most romantic and visible type of ministry. But this is exactly the type of person that Jesus died for. The value of one human life is priceless. Sharing the salvation message of Jesus as a saviour and rescuer from sin has the power to impact life’s dramatically, supernaturally and I believe that it is the most significant thing we can do in this life. All other things can be so empty and meaningless but touching and changing one human being life gives meaning and purpose to life.

What is evangelism? Evangelism is simple chatting with people and sharing and being a witness of the goodness and greatness of God that by accepting and receiving Jesus as saviour you receive the free gift of eternal life.

If your life are empty and meaningless and you feel that that you need a new life there are so many ways that we can make a difference, get involved and practically acting out our Christianity by just doing what Jesus instructed us to do. It is not complicated, intimidating or difficult. It is just chatting with people and being available and making yourself available as a tool in the hand of the Father. Of al the pleasures in the world there are no greater joy to see the Holy Spirit change a life and also to be active involved in the process. All the things we seek and search for are meaningless and empty if we don’t get to a place of active obedience in serving by witnessing.

How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things! Rom 10:15

The harvest truly is great, but the workers few. Mat 9:37

What can a local group of believers do to impact and change the world? How can we mobilize the Body of Christ to play the role that they should play and not just be spectators. No army can be sent out without training, preparation and a specific plan of action. In some way all Christians are supposed to be evangelists. With a world that is getting smaller, there is no reason why a small group of believers can't go on a short term mission trip to Africa, Europe or any destination in the world. Even better yet, we can start where we are! Every person should be a little bit of an evangelist. Ready to be an instrument and fellow worker of God to impact, change and bring forth spiritual change and rivers flowing in dry places.

Financial poverty is found all over the world from Africa to the so-called rich European and other western countries. Spiritual poverty is just as widespread, but also flourishes in rich European countries and many workers are needed. Just as 2000 years ago, , the workers today are also few. It is so easy to get so stuck in life, that our own lives are all that everything is about. We focus so much on our own problems and worries, that we forget about a dying and lost world.

We need to change daily and be the man and woman God wants us to be. We should allow no devil, situation or human being to stop us. Life is short and we must use every moment of the time we have today.

There is so much that a local group of believers can do to make a difference. Just by being available to God is already a start. If God wants to send someone, are you available? Maybe God just wants to send you to your neighbour. Maybe God want to send you to a person whose skin colour and culture is a bit different from yours. We all are imperfect and have a propensity to sin. But we all also have the potential to be a blessing and to impact someone else's life.

HOW DO WE MOBILIZE A GROUP OF BELIEVERS?

There are many ways to get people into action, but here are a few possibilities:

  • Adopt a country and start to pray for that specific country.
  • Learn different evangelizing techniques: E.g. Different visual tools like the
Wordless book, South African flag, Rope tricks, etc.
  • Get a speaker that can inspire people to evangelize.
  • Learn a new Language (with 11 official languages you don't have to go far to find one to speak).
  • Get an idea from God, Drama, Mime, Puppets, Balloon Modeling
  • Mobilize and get the people with an evangelistic heart together.
  • Missions should be brought back to the Local Church and there should not be such a divorce between the Local Church and Missions.
  • Missions should be church planting focused.
  • Study the book of Acts to see what Paul and others did to impact their world.
  • Local Churches in a city can work together to evangelize and plant churches worldwide.

To get different results, we have to do something different.
