Welcome To Lovely Victoriana's Kitchen!

As you enter the kitchen, you are greeted by the aroma of apple pie fresh from the oven of a wood fired cooking range.
Mmmmmm..what a treat for the senses!
There was always something baking in the oven of the Victorian era kitchen.
Gentlemen were welcomed by a hearty meal and delicious desserts at the end of each hard working day. There was nothing quite as pleasing to a lady than to watch a hungry, happy man digging in and enjoying her culinary works of art. The pages of recipe books were always stained and torn from over-use and the recipes inside were always tried, tested and true.
Pour yourself a cup of hot coffee, sit down and look through the recipe book for some favorite Victorian era recipes.
Lovely Victoriana's Recipe Book
The lady of the house was usually assisted, with the cooking and other household work, by her daughters or servants. This was a common domestic arrangement of the time. Servants would earn their keep through their work and were paid very little sometimes only $7.00 a month!!
