Important Places for the HP books and J.K. Rowling
-Near Bristol are the towns of Yates and Winter bourne where J.K. Rowling swpent part of her childhood.

-Exeter is home to Exeter University, the school from which Joanne Rowling graduated.

-Gloucester is home to the Gloucester Cathedral, which was used as parts of the Hogwarts Castle in the HP and the Philosopher's Stone movie.

-London is home to many important places in the Harry Potter world. Harry cqatches the Hogwarts Express at the King's Cross, a London railroad station. Also, behind London's Leaky Cauldron, a pub for the wizards, is Diagon Alley, where Hogwarts students shop for their back to school supplies.

-On a delayed train conomute from Manchester to London in 1990, J.K. Rowling came up with the concept of a story about a young boy attending wizard school.

-After Joanne Rowling's divorce, she moved to Edinburgh, to live with her sister Di. Much of the first book was written by Rowling in Edinburgh's Nicholson Cafe.

-Could Scotland be the site of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? Some experts think so, considering the number of hours that the students spend traveling north from London on the Hogwarts Express.
