The Land of Promise And Pain

After an eighteen hour bus ride from Vicksburg, Mississippi. At last we finally arrived in Racine, WI. I could see that Racine was a beautiful town, it seemed to be about the same size as Vicksburg, "may even a tad bit larger. There was a lot to endure. Dealing with family was very hurtful. "You see", upon our arrival- "they knew that we had just made that long trip through four States", to get to Racine- and that we had no food remaining, little cash and no shelter arrangements. One family member offered us cold lunch meat for dinner, to satisfy our hungers, as she continued playing cards and consuming her alcoholic beverage, while entertaining her company. "Right then and there", I knew this living arrangement would not work- out, there was no way that I was going to allow my family to live in a house where all this sinning was taking place. So I began to seek the Lord on where we would go from here. One thing was for sure, it was to late to turn back now. I had to get my family away from all the commotion that was going on in that house. I asked if there was a good church that my family could attend near-by, I was told that they didn't attend church much, but that my sister- Mother-Inlaw was a christian. After placing a call, We were told they would pick us up, now that was good- news and already I began to see some light at the end of the tunnel. Once at the church, (though I can't seem recall its name) I saw they truly were praising the Lord. It was just what I needed to lift my spirit up after the long journey from Vicksburg. I knew that some way God was going to move on our behalf. After moving to another family members home, I prayed and asked the Lords guidance in finding us a house. While looking in the phonebook, I prayed to the Lord to show me a particularly just real estate agent, and he did just that. After the phone rang a few times, a man answered the phone. Although, I had never seen or heard of this real-estate agent up until this day, I believe that my mustard-seed of faith, was about to move a mountain. I told the man my name, and went on to tell him that I was a wife and mother of seven children, with one on the way, I also told him that we were from out of town and desperately needed a place to stay, had no money and both my husband and myself were unemployed.
