"Well, if it isn't my favoritest married woman!" Edmund Gray called out tothe waiting woman at the table, anxiously tapping her newly manicured nailsagainst the linen table cloth.
"For a writer, your grasp of the English language is hideous Edmund." Thetall, willowy blond stood and leaned over, kissing Edmund's cheeks.
"The table's set for three."
"How observant! My, you really are sharp."
"You know Katharine, you're the only one who'd get away with that."
"I know."
"So, any chance I can talk you into abandoning your husband to escort me to the Crystal Ball?"
"Charming, really, but no. But..."
"There's a but?"
"There's a but. I do have someone in mind. She's beautiful, witty, well bred, hasn't slept with your brother, single, and all around *perfect* for your little party."
"Really? And just who is the fabulous, wonderful, woman of my dreams?"
"Katharine! Sorry I'm late sweety!" Cried out Leslie Coulson as she blew into the room, hair devilish, cheeks red, "You wouldn't believe the traffic out there!" She bent and air kissed her cheeks, and noticed the third party sitting at their table. "I'm sorry, am I interrupting anything?"
"Nope, Leslie Coulson, Edmund Gray. Edmund Gray, Leslie Coulson. Well." She sighed, rising from her chair. "Look at the time, I simply must be going. Bye!" And with that, Katharine Baye tore out of the room, leaving Edmund and Leslie in an awkward silence.
