| Hello There! I am Emily.......THE....Emily. (8x10 glossies will be handed out later) I was born on May 1/96 I am a Van (the coat color, NOT the breed) I was born on the farm of my mum's landlord in Alberta, and as soon as my mum heard what I looked like, she knew she wanted me. I sort of looked a bit like a hamster when I was very small, but as you can see, I have grown into a stunning young lady. When I was four weeks old and living in the landlords machine shed, I got into some motor oil, and my mum was afraid that my mum or I might try to lick it off and become sick, so she decided to take me home with her. Normally a kitten should stay with its mom for 8-12 weeks, but this was an emergency. Unfortunately, I missed out on learning some of the basic social skills that I might have learned from my siblings, such as controlling my biting. I really cannot help myself. I just LOVE the feel of my teeth sinking into all sorts of things.... fabric, plastic, wood, paper......flesh.... Once I put two teeny little punctures really close to the bottom corner of a plastic water jug so that the water trickled out really slowly without anyone noticing it...hee hee! I can drive mum crazy in the middle of the night with the "scree...scree" sound of my teeth going in and out of the bedding. When the other kittens came to live with us I was kind of mean to them and bit them a lot, but they got even and would chase me every chance they got, so I learned to stay out of their way. When I want mum to pet me, I butt her with my head three times. If she hasn't started petting by the third butt, I nip her really hard to get her attention. Do you know that if you shut your eyes when you are biting, they can't see you? One of my favorite tricks was to hide behind the toilet (snicker) and when mum sat down I would strike like a cobra and then run like heck! I am so glad that I have this webpage so that people can come and admire me! Thank you for coming. Please leave a donation on your way out... A fat, juicy mouse would be perfect! |

| Emily has gained (ahem) a little weight over the years, though I never seem to catch her eating. Feeding her separately is not an option so I thought I would up her exercise and bought a laser light. She now enjoys WATCHING the light from wherever she is lying. **** |

| UPDATE OCT 2007
This month I have lost Sophie to old age related problems, Dear Oliver to sudden liver failure and Sky to sudden non-restorative anemia. Now it all makes sense. Years ago when I lived on the farm before moving here, I lost Murphy to age related renal failure but Toby's death from a sudden neurological problem remained a mystery. After Sky's death I had them do a blood analysis for Feline Leukemia. It is likely Comet was the carrier and passed it to all my cats. Now there is only Furby, Comet and Emily left. I have decided to keep the 2 cats till they succumb to the disease. This means I will not be able to have any other cats in my house, but I may look into adopting a small dog to keep Furby company as he is grieving. We will see. UPDATE NOV 07 This month we got a little rescue Pom named Bonnie. Emily doesn't interact with her often, but when she does, she absolutely loves the little dog. |
