I don't actually write a lot of poetry just for the hell of it - I don't really see the point, as unrhyming poetry is really just a paragraph with odd line breaks. These are some poems I wrote on a Creative Writing course a while ago, so I thought (since I've got other people's poetry) I might as well have some of my own up. If they seem odd, please bear in mind that they probably came from some exercise.
Anticipation
Anticipation is an amazing wall;
It's terrifyingly high
Or miniscule and insignificant
Depending on what you think
Is on the other side.
Whether you climb over,
Turn away
(Or just blow the damn thing up)
What actually waits
Probably won't be
All you hoped.
The Undertaker and the Pussycat
The cat's dead.
It's okay:
I can deal with death.
My life is dealing with death.
I'll take him into work tomorrow;
The cat was part of the family,
And anyway I want a chance to use
My employee discount.

What life has been like so far?
Average
But happy
No great highs
But no great lows
I haven't travelled the world
But I haven't stayed at home
I haven't been without tears
But I haven't been without laughs
I haven't been perfect
But I haven't expected perfection
I haven't escaped hate
But I haven't been without love
Life's been good.
Love
The familiarly cosy smell of home
Mixed scents of family and
The Sunday roast,
Hot Angel and roses,
And salty tears
The laughing voices of
Family and friends.
A splash of water on rock
Smooth touch of velvet soft
On a sleepy touch,
Luxurious chocolate and cream
Truffles and fudge in
Vast quantities.
Pink and purple sunset fires
Reflected in the water off
A deserted beach.
Haikus
Admitting your feelings
Is not identical
To showing weakness.
The sands of time don't
Destroy the mists of memory;
They mix with them.
Here's a good philosophy
Of life: At least you're
Not a garden gnome.
