- About the Book
The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion are all in the same world and story line. The Silmarillion is a vast "outline" of the world, from beginning up to the destruction of the Ring in The Lord of the Rings.
The story is extremely complex, Tolkien spent 10 years on The Lord of the Rings. When I was twelve or so I began reading The Hobbit for school, for a book report. I finished The Hobbit and the story, I feel awkward say this, but it touched me. I tried so hard to obtain the trilogy of the Lord of the Rings, and I did. A friend loaned me the trilogy. I began reading the first book, it seemed boring the first hundred pages and I, unfortuneately, stopped reading the book. I saw the previews some time later for the movies, and I felt I should read the books again. I picked it back up and started from the beginning. I read the books, one by one I finished them. Finally I finished the three books. The stories truly were, awkwardly saying this, put sorrow in me, yet joy. To defeat evil, for awhile, but what was lost, what has happened already. Evils taint on middle earth.

I didn't know about The Silmarillion, till one day I was playing
EverQuest and someone said that was their favorite book. I obtained more information on the book, but didn't read it yet. I was now on my sophomore year in school and I need to read books for english. I decided I shall read The Silmarillion. I am only half way through the book as I am writing this, but it is truly an amazing book. I have grown up around a christian background, such as Tolkien. As I started reading The Silmarillion I have noticed many things similar to the Bible, now because I said that, don't leave! Whether you believe in the Bible or not, you should read what I have to say, you can decided good or bad thoughts at the end. But it is true, not just the Bible, but life. As you read the Silmarillion you can view the foe, Melkor or Morgoth is evil because of jealousy, he hates because he cannot have. You have probably heard, Money is the roots of all evil, does not jealousy and money tie together? You find jealousy in all the evil stories, Satan tempts Adam and Eve ate the apple of a "forbidden tree" to obtain powers that God has. Cane and Able in the Bible. Take The Oddyssey, the suitors are jealous of what Oddyseus has and try to take it, therefore he kills them. In LOTR jealousy is everywhere, all mainly on the ring, jealousy brang death. I have heard, though have not looked myself, in the Bible it says being content is...I will have to search it and make positive. (=, butut next to being godly...don't take that the wrong way..maybe great is the better word. I know it seems like none of this pertains to Tolkiens work, but it does pertain to REAL LIFE, which matters more. If you have taken your time to read this, please, think before you do, try to do good for the world. If you don't believe in God, you wouldnt' be afraid if I put a gun to your head and said bye bye? Youd just say, bye? or would you cry? Because deep down you know there is someone there, who created you. Perhaps thats not you? Your more on the science ways, do you know biogenesis, that life comes from life, which is a fact, my science teacher says there is ONE exception, the big bang, like get real, lmao. Now matter cannot be destroyed nor created, where did it all come from, the atoms themselves? If you say the big bang, you havn't thought it out enough, there couldn't have been atoms to blow up. If you ask where did God from, I myself cannot say, but HE does have an answer. There are so many things. If you care what I say, email me, about real life or the story. Both are great. The Silmarillion is about the beginning of the world, the elves, of everything! The world is crafted by the One, Illuvatar. Melkor, one of the Children of the One, intends on taking Ea, the world, for himself. The other children will not allow him to do such, and for it they "ban" him. He hates them for this. He becomes jealous of his kin, and puts forth all he can to hurt them. His kin soon call him Morgoth, instead of Melkor..  Throughout the book, Morgoth tries to destroy, he succeeds, and fails. The book goes all the way up to the end of the Ring.
- My Thoughts
I think the book is quite amazing, and plan on reading it over and over. I would highly suggest you reading it too. I only wish Tolkien had more time to write more detailed on his already amazing stories.
- Real Life and God
If you have been to Sunday school, you probably can understand what I'm about to say, if not, you still might. If you are a evolutionist, believing that the world evolved from a single-celled organism, which was created by the "big bang", well...you've got news coming. Below is an old version of what I wrote on the home page of this site. Please read ALL of it, and email me your comments. Thanks
