I live on the west coast of British Columbia, in Canada. We have wonderfully mild weather, but pay for it with tons of rain most of the time - but hey, it's better than snow.

I have three younger brothers, all who have changed their birth names to their own choices. I figured I'd keep mine and not totally confuse my parents too much.

I have been a christian for most of my life, but my one big downfall is I have a hard time getting myself to church as often as I should. I have no illusions that I will ever get there every single Sunday like most of the christians I know, but if I can get there twice a month I feel I am doing well. (once I'm actually there, I enjoy it and get a lot out of it, it's just the 'knowing what i must do, but i am reluctant to start out and do it' (sound familiar?)

I have two cats - brother and sister - and a dog. (I like cats better)

Some of my hobbies include cross stitch, rollerblading, writing, reading!!!, canoeing and I love gardening. There is something very cathartic about getting your hands into the dirt. I don't profess to be a good gardener, the only things I can grow well are beans, tomatoes, and any flower that comes up each year and can survive my bizarre watering schedule. (I gave up on houseplants 10 years ago when they were so dried up they literally turned to dust - even my cactus) I also collect signed actor photos.

Music - I love music. My all time favorite band is a small quartet from Ireland with a lead singer named Bono. I love their music, but not the latest flimsy, wishy-washy attempts they called albums. I like the newest one - 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' and then the best music prior to that goes way back to 'Joshua Tree' and 'Rattle and Hum', but I also like Actung Baby.  I really like Peter Gabriel, Rankin Family (canadian celtic), Gordon Lightfoot (oldie canadian), The Guess Who (older canadian), and I like some of: Pink Floyd, Creed, Collective Soul, Nickelback, Switchfoot, and some classical.

Books - I don't know what I would do without books. I love the old time mysteries written in the 40's and 50's. Things like Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe, Agatha Christie, Horatio Hornblower, and have just started to read the 'Sharpe' series by Bernard Cornwell after I saw it on tv one night on history channel (Sean Bean (Boromir) is Sharpe.) I have read all the Wolfe, all Christie, and now have to find a new author as prolific and as interesting as those two were. Anyone with suggestions is most welcome.

TV - I don't watch much tv, but when I do I only half listen and am usually busy with my cross stitching. Some of the shows I did enjoy are Red Dwarf!!, Touched by an Angel (yes I know it's sappy, but I still liked it), and I like a show called CSI about forensics experts solving police crimes. I get tired of things really quickly, and so quit watching the 'in' shows like 'ER' and 'Jag' and "Boston Public" and stuff that after two good seasons, they run out of ideas. I do like British comedies when I can find them, and will watch reruns of 'Law and Order' because they are so well written and acted. I hate sit-coms.

Movies - There are few movies that really appeal enough to me for me to spend two hours of my life on, as well as $14.50 canadian (thats about $10.00 usa!) of my hard earned cash. There are a few movies that I have voluntarily seen more than once:
'
Hunt for Red October' with Sean Connery, 'The Abyss', 'Always' with Holly Hunter and Richard Dreyfuss, and, oh yes, a little movie the last three Decembers about a bunch of hairy footed hobbits, an elf, a dwarf, an old wizard and two dirty, scruffy humans. Actually, I've seen it 7 times since then.(only seen The Two Towers 5 times so far, and saw RotK 6 times.) OH! and Hidalgo of course! thought it was awe inspiring.

Other - I won't tell you how old I am, or what I look like. I leave it up to your imagination. Let's just say that I'm older than you probably think, but younger than your grandmother. I do work, at a job that supplies me with limited cash, but I absolutely love it and that's better than being rich anyway. I drive a 6 year old volkswagen, and wouldn't trade it for a new car if you gave me one. (a volkswagen saved my skin when I had a car accident two years ago.)  If I won a million dollars (hey, isn't there a 'barenaked ladies' song - 'if i had a million dollars' - never mind, they "buy a green dress" and "that's cruel") Sorry. If I won a million dollars, I would travel to only four places: Ireland, Peru, South of England where all the ruined castles are, and Egypt to see the pyramids.(and New Zealand of course) I'd take music lessons: flute, guitar and drums! I'd learn how to paint with oils, and I would spend two months uninterupted and try to write and publish a book whose plot has been in my head since I was 22. (I guess I'm not younger than 22 eh?)

p.s. if you are one of the 'barenaked ladies' and you are reading this, please don't sue me for using part of your song; besides, i'm broke, remember?)

Who I'd like to meet one day: Stephanie Zimbalist - we'd share a pot of tea,  Bono - we'd talk about God,  Sean Bean - we'd have a game of chess and a long silent visit, Viggo Mortensen - we'd discuss his art and poetry, and go fly fishing.

p.s. if you are one of the people named as who i'd like to meet, send me an email!!
