| Aftermath of Alex's death: The Parthians never come to power with Lemmish satrap instead dominating. the Seleucids would be crushed earlier between the forces of Lemmon, Egypt and Greece/Macedonia. Ptolemy would have the Arabian peninsula and the "Holy Land",while Antigonus would end up with Asia Minor. Who's hands would Babylon end up in? I can see a massive number of minor wars between minor city states, think "Romance of the Three Kingdoms." Would the burgeoning Lemmon seek the addition of this area? Or would it head east? The Zagreb mountains pose the biggest threat against a conquest and holding of the Mesopotamia region. But the Caspian sea could be a good bet. A transfer of greek shipbuilding technology to the sea could increase the mineral resources the area would need. Roman Republic/Empire time Period: A Carthage/Roman Alliance against the Greeks is just as likely to happen as it did in reality but once they betray each other things will change a bit. The Punic wars probably wouldn't change much but Rome would have to face a much larger force of those Horse Archers if they wanted to go east. Also the city states in Mesopotamia would end up under the power of the city of Babylon. It would have to manage to fight its way against Egypt, Lemmon and Greece to establish a fair sized country in an era of transnational empires. Rome was frustrated with its horrendous defeats in Asia Minor especially notable is the loss of Pompey in the Battle of Ephesus. Thus the stability of the Roman trimvurate is turned upside down with the resignation of Crassus leaving the country in Ceasar's control. So he switched the focus of its army toward the Still independent Egypt and the Germanic Areas. By about the time of Christ's birth in 4 B.C. Egypt was gone, much of Babylon had been rolled back and Lemmon concluded a peace treaty that guaranteed an end of the Destructive battles in Asia Minor. The birth, ministry and death of Christ was just one of the many religious events that happened in exceedingly vicious time of the rebellious new province. Even though Jesus encourages obedience to rulers of rome, the governor of Judea feels he is a threat to his rule and has him crucified. The next 300 years... After a long period of peace the roman emperor, Diocletian, gives up on holding on to vast areas in the east which split into 2 parts Egypt and Greece. While Babylon attacks Egypt and gains the holy land, Greece expands against the poorly trained Lemmish. Lemmon also suffers constantly from rebellion in the southern part of the empire by Zoastroaism Fanatics. The Christian religion has taken vast hold in the Greek and Lemmish empires by this time and what's left of rome feels the pull also. The Germanic tribes north of rome start to pull their act togther and form and kind of confederacy led by the Angles. Much in fight among the various Roman and East asian empires causes much torture and hardship on the province. Disaster after disaster... 700 Ad and the "hordes" of the arabian peninsula are unleashed on the world. Babylon was completely conquered and it people subjugated. Egypt held up as well as it could but the Caliph marched victoriously on the capital of Alexandria in 753 Ad. Lemmon was able to take advantage of the fortress of Forestall to hold off and defeat most of the Arabs attacks. |
