| lost for words started in october of 2000 with members aaron (vocals, guitar), chris (drums, backing vocals), kevin (bass), and travis (vocals, guitars). lfw started writing songs and soon enough found themselves playing their first show ever in december at the world famous nile theatre. the performance wasn't that great, and only a few can admit to seeing the first lfw show. however, they were asked immediately to play again at the nile in the first week of january. throughout january and febuary the band played at least one show per week at parties and various places in the phoenix area (mainly at the nile theatre though). the band soon found themselves with a fairly large fan base and decided it was time to put out a c.d. so, in march of 2001, the the band packed up their gear and drove cross country in a borrowed mini van to nashville, tn to record their first c.d. entitled '...my beef with the situation'. the band spent 2 days recording instruments and vocals (totaling about 30 hours of actual in studio time). the c.d. was released on april 6th at a show with craigs brother and yellowcard. the c.d. sold out immediatly. everyone seemed to like the c.d., except for lfw. lfw realized that the vocals just were not what the wanted. so, they decided to look for a new singer. the new singer would be nick (the drummer of the silent heroes). but at the same time, travis was thinking about leaving the band to do something else musically. and on may 25th, lfw played their last show as the old lfw (which was also their first headlinig show at the nile, and it was a great turn out!). nick came on stage and sang one song with the band that night, but everything else was old lfw music. the band knew they wanted someone to fill in on guitar to pick up where travis left off, so they went to marshall from chris' old band 'for pete's sake'. as of june 2001, the new lfw stood as: aaron (guitar, backing vocals), chris (drums), kevin (bass), marshall (guitar), and nick (vocals). in june lfw hit the road for the first time too. they traveled to las vegas, nevada to perform on the 2001 vans warped tour. it was the bands first show as the new lfw. the show was not the bands best performance, but it was alright. since then, the band has undergone yet another change in the lineup. wIth a mutual decision, marshall left lfw. he lived about 2 hours away from the band so it was hard to practice, thus hurting the performance of the band. however, the band continued on and released "the labor day ep" in september. lfw continues on with many shows planned all over the southwest in the upcoming months. |
