On Wednesday, August 25, 2004, Dr. Walter Birdsall and the P.A.L.S. volunteers had a meeting in the employee lounge. A luncheon was served from LaCasa. Everyone ate a delicious meal. The dessert was provided by Ms. Ismay Theriot. She made a wonderful coconut cake. She wanted to do something to thank the volunteers for helping to get her medicines. Now the volunteers want to thank her for that wonderful coconut cake. Everyone enjoyed it. Here are a few of the pictures I took at the luncheon meeting.

Everyone is enjoying the great food.

Does Annie have a choke hold on Evelyn
or is she just hugging her?.

Dr. B is getting ready to enjoy his lunch.

Dr. Birdsall is ready to start the meeting.

Evelyn must be saying something important,
everyone is listening!.

Princess Ebby is doing hand puppets!

Ruby and Evelyn decide who will get the first piece of cake.

WEll, I guess Evelyn won!

Dr. Gary finally came to join us. He and Wilton share a table.

The major area of discussion was the need to introduce this program to other Lady of the Sea Medical Clinics. Several doctors have asked for the forms and methods we are using since their patients are asking for the same program we are doing. It's impossible for us to do it for patients of another doctor because so much information is needed from the doctor. Our volunteers fill out all of the usual doctor information and the doctor checks it, signs it and writes the prescriptions. No doctor has the time to look up all of this information for each of his patients. As a volunteer I feel I have done a good afternoon of work if I finish one patients requests. If a patient has 7 prescriptions it will probably be from 7 different pharmaceuticals with 7 different applications to fill. It is a lot of work but it is very rewarding for the volunteers to know that they helped at least 1 person. God bless all of you.
