What does a forensic psychologist do?

A forensic psychologist deals with all matters of psychology at the intersection of the law.  For example, it may involve treatment, evaluation, and research with offending populations. 

What do I enjoy doing?

I enjoy doing a wide variety of things, such as working on computers, reading, traveling, swimming, running, and playing soccer. 

Cindi and I have, in the past few years, began trying to complete some marathons, albeit it at a slow and enjoyable pace.  It keeps us in shape, gets us to see cities we might not otherwise travel to, and is surprisingly fun.

What does a school psychologist do?

A school psychologist is an interesting profession, as there are a wide array of tasks that are expected of you.  The primary task of a school psychologist is to complete assessments of children to determine if a child qualifies for special educational services due to learning disabilities, an emotional handicap, behavioral problems, mental handicaps, etc.

Overall, the job is interesting, as you get to work with teachers, students, parents and administrators.  Consulting with each to determine interventions that might help the child, along with what services would best serve the child. 

Lastly, the profession provides ample time off (summers off) to pursue traveling and spending time with family and friends. 

Where do I want to travel to?

I really would love to travel all over the world, preferably Central and South America first, as the lifestyle there seems to be a bit more laid back, enjoyable, family oriented.  Also, I think perfecting our Spanish would be excellent for our careers and for when we have children. 

I really think I would enjoy traveling anywhere in the world, as long as it is safe.  Perhaps Africa, Southeast Asia, .. maybe China.  I am hoping that we have at least one year to 18 months to see some portions of the world on our trip.  Should be fun.  Email me if you have any suggestions of where to travel and what to see !
