Canoe Crash
I went canoeing and it was tight. It was suppose to be my good day, an escape from the crappiness of my life for awhile, but like everything else in my life the good times are shortly followed by the bad... what happen you might be asking yourself... well I'll tell you. It was getting hot on the river and my canoe was waiting for the others to catch up, so I decide to park up against a large rock and get out. The rock, however, wouldn't stand for this and tried to push the canoe away. This leaves me with one foot in the canoe and one foot on the rock. So to keep from fliping the canoe and all its contents (including my dad) I decide to put all my wieght back onto the canoe for a split second and then jump into the water. I didn't dive in, I kinda rolled in, but I managed to hit my head on another rock below to water. I pop right up outa the water unable to hear or feel anything. Then as my hearing comes back so does feeling, but I feel more than just the cool water... I feel an immense pain on my head. So I eventaully get back in the canoe and finish the run with blood pouring down my face. All in all I managed to get 6 stiches on my head a butterfly on my chin and a scrape and bruise on the back of my shoulder. I'm still can't comprehend how I hit all those places in one fall but its all good, except for my head. The two following pictures were taking after I had finished the run and cleaned it up alittle. The cuts are under the hair so you really can't see it.
My Winter Tale
The beaches was warm I could feel the sun on my face, my eyes were closed and I was a peace. I could hear laughter in the distance and my face was going num. It felt as if the dentist had given me some novacaine. The laughter got louder, i opened my eyes, only to leave my paradise behind and enter a dark, cold place. Someone was standing above me talking to me. I was lying on the ground, face half covered in snow. I pulled my face from the snow and tried to speak, but all that came out was a spray of blood. I paniced, and then I could feel the horrible pain. I didn't know where I was or what I was doing. All I could think of was this horrible pain. I grabed the hand of whoever it was standing above me. He helped me to my feet. Again I tried to speak but, I could feel that my lower lip was swollen and, agian blood shot out. The white snow winter had given to us was now covered in the red blood that dripped down across my face. What felt like drool was on my chin, but I came to the realization of what it really was. The laughter now stopped, for my friends knew this was no joke. I was far from home and just wanted to see my face. I wanted to know what had the cruel unforgiving ice done to it. There was no light, no light for anyone to see my face. We continued to sled pretending as though nothing had happened. Slowly the pain was coming back. I decided we should leave. We walked home, I was always ahead of the others. The pain seem to get worse when I was in the light. I made sure that none of my friends could see me, especially my face. As I passed under a street light a family walked by, a father with his two sons. They were to far away to see me, but the wife, she walked right by me. I smiled and nodded, she looked up as if she was going to do the same, but as soon as our eyes met she looked away quickly. I knew that something was wrong, I quickened my pace, only to slow down again at the calls of my trailing friends. I now waited in the darkness of Nottaways basketball courts. We finished the journey together, finally ending at Andy's house. As we reached the house, the pain was almost unbearable. I ran to the door and torn off my jacket. I rushed into the bathroom and all I could do was look into the mirror with the light off.
