| This day started out like all the rest. I got up and got Amanda off to school. The first day for the week even though it was a Wednesday. You see on Monday and Tuesday of that week we got hit with a really big snow storm. The schools were closed both of those days. The store I worked at closed early in the afternoon on Monday and opened late on Tuesday due to the storms. So needless to say there was allot of snow and ice due to the cold and the winds. So anyways everyone got off as they should of. My daughter got home from school at her usual time a little after four. My room mate walked in just a couple minutes after her. They got ready and left to run some errands. They were late getting them done and were not on time picking me up. I am not totally sure if that was a good thing or not. We stopped on the way home to get subs for dinner quick and easy we all were rather tired. When we got home at 6:30 instead of 5:30 we found the police and fire department at the house. The call to the fire department went in at 5:30 the time we should of been getting out of the truck. At that time there was an explosion in the upstairs front bedroom. That happened to of been mine. Lady was missing, Coa Coa was dead from burns, and brownie was severly burnt. She did not make it. Di Di we never saw again. The next day while we were out buying clothes, a friend called me on my cell. She stated that she had found Lady and she was burnt. She was at a local vet. Unfortunately on April 11, I ended up putting her down because she had developed kidney damage from the burns and the medication that she so despritely needed. Not only did we loose or loving pets, but everything that was important. The cause was a short in the wall and sparked the rest is history. I do have to give a very large thank you however to the Syracuse Fire Department. They saved roughly 50% of the house that is really saying something about them. It was electrical and they got it out before the whole house was lost. It is currently under repair and will be livable sometime early next year. So let me say this to you make sure you have fire insurance and you have a fire proof box for all imporant papers. It can happen to anyone. I have learned from experiance no fire proof box. And if you have pets put one of those stickers in your window letting them know how many you have. We are lucky though to still have Beast and Bell. They were in the basement and came out from hiding that following weekend. They are happy to just be with us I think. They spent allot of time looking for the others as we lost them. But, they have become settled in in our new home. |
