As you may know, I'm a long-time Beatles fan.
At one point (junior high and high school), I was disillusioned with the lads for not being perfect, but I've come to grips with their human weaknesses in the intervening years.
The Beatle that I seemed to have a problem with from the start was John Lennon.
He was a creative and brilliant artist, but he seemed to have a huge chip on his shoulder. He was always brashly opinionated. I don't know that I fully recognized this at the age of nine.
Yet during his life, he evolved, and perhaps even mellowed.
Life has a way of doing that to you, sometimes.
Just as everything should have been great in his life, in December of 1980, John was senselessly murdered by a fanatic named Mark David Chapman. The loss has rocked the world. So, on the day of this writing (October 9, 2000),
I offer a small tribute to John and the hope for peace in this mad world of ours.

The MIDI playing is John's haunting song, "Imagine."
Listen for the original today.
Someone, somewhere, will be playing it.
