Lori Krane - Bio

Let me introduce myself.  I am the Technology Coordinator of the Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County, NJ, specializing in staff development and K-8 technology-curriculum integration.

I am a New York State - and Connecticut - licensed elementary classrooL<m teacher (I received my M.S. Ed in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the Bank Street College of Education in 1990) and technology specialist (with 14 years of experience), and I have worked as a staff development consultant in educational technology for the NY State BOCES Lower Hudson Regional Information Center.  I currently provide staff development in educational technology as well as consulting services to the Bronxville, NY  school district, the BEPT Teachers' Center (a consortium of four local school districts), as well as other local school districts.

My prior work as Elementary School Technology Specialist and Staff Development Consultant consisted of collaboration with K-5 teachers and direct instruction to their students, in order to integrate technology into the educational program. I was involved in the creation of a K-5 technology curriculum for the district and served as a member of the district technology committee.  I also created and maintained the elementary school's web site.

As a staff development consultant, I have developed and provided training programs to teachers in the area of educational technology and curriculum integration with titles such as "Expanding the K-1 Classroom with Educational Technology", "Developing Technology Infused Activities within Thematic Units for the 2nd & 3rd Grade Classroom", "Getting Started with Educational Technology:, "Creating Interactive Multimedia PowerPoint Presentations in the Classroom", "Creating WebQuests" and "Web Page and Web Site Development" (for Teachers and Students).

At NECC 1999, I presented a well-received, six-hour workshop entitled "Creating Interactive Multimedia PowerPoint Presentations in the Early Childhood Classroom" for an audience of teachers, technology coordinators and administrators.  At NECC 2001, I will be presenting a six-hour workshop entitled "Using Technology to Teach Social Studies".

Other work in which I have been involved includes staff development on effective Internet use and design and implementation of WebQuests in the Middle School Social Studies classroom.  I have also worked on technology plans for local school districts.

I have developed and co-authored an extensive amount of tutorial materials, specifically written for classroom teachers, focused on their basic needs (and taking into consideration their lack of time to deal with technology), as well as instructional material for elementary and middle school students.

I have created this web site to streamline my staff-development efforts and to be able to share the wealth of resources I have come upon with parents and teachers.  Enjoy!
