IPC-A-600
Operator/Inspector Proficiency Certification

Course Objective:
Upon successful completion the students will have an understanding of the external observable conditions. They will be able to make "accept/reject" decisions for the appropriate class/classes of products.

Course Objective:
This course is designed to certify Operators/Inspectors in those characteristics, which are observable from the printed circuit board surface. This includes those characteristics, which are external and internal but visible from the surface as follows:

  • Surface Imperfections
  • Subsurface Imperfections
  • Imperfections in Conductive Circuitry
  • Hole Characteristics
  • Solder Resist Imperfections
  • Marking Anomalies
  • Dimensional Characteristics
Many of these conditions are demonstrated through the use of a newly created sample board teaching tool.

Evaluation:
Worker Proficiency students will be evaluated on their mastery of the IPC-A-600 material through end-of-course tests that have both open-book and closed-book components.
Students must receive an average of at least 70% on both tests.
