Over the coming weeks, Loren will flesh out his ideas and positions for you to consider. Here is a brief sampling:
- Wean the nation off of Social Security. The system is inherently flawed, and mere reforms will only serve to exploit current taxpayers, hurt beneficiaries, or create bigger burdens for Loren's own generation or its children's.
- Seriously reform the U.S. income tax scheme. Eliminate the IRS and move to a national sales tax.
- Balance the federal budget, and create no new entitlements until that is done.
- Require elected officials to publish their taxpayer-funded expenditures online.
- Cut corporate welfare. Successful business should survive in the market without having to be funded by taxpayers.
- Cut wasteful spending. Since pork comes in numerous forms and sizes, Loren makes this promise: he will not vote for any bill if the amendments cost more than 1% of the original proposed bill.
