Biography

Loren Christopher Collins was born on June 22, 1978 in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a seventh-generation Georgian, raised in Stone Mountain, where he has continued to live except when he is in school. For the past twelve years, he has been a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Smoke Rise. This is his first run for elected office.

Loren received a Bachelor of Arts in both Political Science and Religion from the University of Georgia in 2001. He was a H.O.P.E. scholar during the entirety of his four years, and graduated Magna Cum Laude, With Honors. Since that time, he has been a student at the University of Georgia School of Law, where he is due to graduate this May.

During his tenure at the University, Loren has been an active member of the UGA community. He has been involved in the Georgia Christian Student Center for seven years, and the University Union for five. He served as Vice-Chair of the College Libertarians, and is currently the Secretary-Treasurer of the law school's chapter of the Federalist Society. He has also been part of the African American Choral Ensemble, the University Chorus, and Hall Council, and he was chosen to be part of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Finally, he acted in his first play, "Godspell," earlier this year.

During his third year of law school, Loren has been part of the Prosecutorial Clinic, serving as an extern with the Madison County District Attorney's Office. He also externed with the Athens-Clarke County District Attorney's Office during the summer of 2003. By virtue of the Third-Year Prosecutor's Act, Loren has tried one criminal case, which he won.

Loren was active in the Boy Scouts of America throughout his youth, and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1996. During that same time, Loren was also involved with the school band, where he learned to play both clarinet and alto saxophone. Loren is also a movie enthusiast and a comic book fan.

Loren neither smokes nor drinks nor swears. And he promises to carry that same sort of sober approach to life with him to Washington if elected.
