Dear Visitors,
A lot of different stories are heard about the birth of Lord Manikandha. One among them describes that, once Bhasmasuran got a blessing from Lord
Siva. The blessing gave him the ability to burn
and ashes anybody when he touched their head. He decided to experiment it on Lord Siva at
first. Lord Vishnu seeing Lord Siva's dilemma and decided to take suitable
action. He transformed into Mohini and appear in front of Bhasmasura.
Bhasmasura was killed by the intelligence of Mohini.
Later Lord Siva was attracted by Mohini and their union resulted in the birth of
Sastha (another name of Lord Ayyappa).
But here I like to describe another ancient story which may be more acceptable for all.
