| Ezra Markwood Hale was born December 24, 1892 in Russell Co. Va. the seventh child of Noah C. Hale and Mary Jane Grizzle/Silcox Hale. He died January 17, 1959 in Leipsic, Ohio. He was married on 9/16/1909 in Russell Co. Va. to Climie Marshal. They were married only for a short time. On October 1, 1916 he married Sarah Susanah Lucas the daughter of John L and Elizabeth Shepherd Lucas. Sarah was born August 1, 1899 in Pike Co. Kentucky. She and her twin sister Margaret Ann was the first of five daughters of John and Elizabeth. Grandma told me that when they moved to Virginia from Kentucky as a little girl they rode a logging train to Russell Co, Va. Ezra and Susie, had two daughters, Lillie, their second child died as an infant and my mother.They also had seven sons. In 1955 Ezra and Susie divorced and he never remarried. Susie married twice more . She was married to Earnest Young and then Clark Castle for a short time. Grandma died in July 1983 and is buried in Hicksville Ohio. Ezra is buried at Temple Hill Cemetery in Russell Co. Va. |
