Located deep in the tropical rainforest in the Krian district of Saratok, Betong Division - Nanga Telik offers adventurous visitors the magnificent attraction of its refreshing and tranquil setting. The local people of Nanga Telik Longhouse @ Rumah Kayan comprise of the Iban community.The prime economic activity in Nanga Telik is farming. It takes about 5 hours drive from Kuching city.
Visitors from abroad may need to lodge for at least a night in Kuching before setting off from the city for their stay in Nanga Telik Longhouse, Saratok.
A spacious chamber in the longhouse convenes with the need for humble hospitality. Guests will be able to observe a unique way of life and get the hold of undergoing the routines and lifestyle of a longhouse dweller, eating traditional longhouse meals, slumbering the night away the typical Iban style and also learn how the locals make full use of the rainforest to complement to their daily needs.
Our campsite in the Krian jungle is situated 3km away from the Longhouse. Adventurous travellers chance to sight the inhabitants of this ravishing tropical rainforest. Hike up a hill, 'Bukit Kesi' to get a closer view of 'Padong Remaong', a cave which is famous and believed to be the lair to 'Remaong', a legendary dragon to the Iban tribe.
A waterfall cascading into a clear cool stream is a perfect spot for a picnic-luncheon. In the olden days, waterways were the roads for the Iban community. The river and lush vegetations, was a key resource of food supply to the locals which remain to contribute to their basic needs to date.
