Panama's Caribbean Side
Bocas del Toro Bocas del Toro's Carenero is pretty well-known and gets crowded by Panama standards. There are 5 or 6 peaks to choose from, each different. To get here, anchor in the town of Bocas del Toro, or get a slip at one of the marinas (Bocas Marina is better than Marina Carinero). It's a 10-15 minute dinghy ride to the northeast end of the island at 9 deg. 21.18 min N., 82 deg. 13.51 min. N.. Also on this side you have Black Rock, which has a nice right and breaks easier than Carenero. Anchor the dinghy on the side of the breaks in 20 ft. Paunch (09 deg 23.54 min N., 082 deg. 14.24 min. W.)is another break closer to the town anchorge at Bocas Marina This is a good marina run, in part, by Courtney Parks, the shaper. . He has lived in the area for many years and knows all. |
