With a good cruising boat, you can find those "secret spots".

Panama's Caribbean Side

Isla Grande — Isla Grande is in a nice setting for tourists. There are restaurants and shops, and Panamanians consider this a vacation mecca. The break is on the northwestern part of the island. Walk there from the dinghy landing in town near 09 deg. 37.60 min N., 79 deg. 3.96 min. W.. A better anchorage can be had at Isla Linton, a mile away.

Chichime — Chichime is the first island in the San Blas archepelago and should not be missed! The break is to port as you are coming into the pass to the anchorage at 9 deg. 35.27 min. N, 078 deg. 52.93 min W.. It's a fun right. The anchorage here is great.

Bocas del Toro — Bocas del Toro's Carenero is pretty well-known and gets crowded by Panama standards. There are 5 or 6 peaks to choose from, each different. To get here, anchor in the town of Bocas del Toro, or get a slip at one of the marinas (Bocas Marina is better than Marina Carinero). It's a 10-15 minute dinghy ride to the northeast end of the island at 9 deg. 21.18 min N., 82 deg. 13.51 min. N.. Also on this side you have Black Rock, which has a nice right and breaks easier than Carenero. Anchor the dinghy on the side of the breaks in 20 ft. Paunch (09 deg 23.54 min N., 082 deg. 14.24 min. W.)is another break closer to the town anchorge at Bocas Marina This is a good marina run, in part, by Courtney Parks, the shaper. . He has lived in the area for many years and knows all.
