About Us
First of all, for those of you who don't know anything about us, we are a company in the 2nd Brigade of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.

The Corps of Cadets is an ROTC unit consisting of Army, Navy/Marine, and Air Force units that focuses not only training men and women for potential military service, but also instills leadership, discipline, and physical and mental strength in them.  The first year cadets are in the Corps is called their "fish" year.  It is during this year that the fish go through many trials and tests that teach them many things that will help them throughout life, namely the traits mentioned above.  There is no military obligation that goes along with membership in the Corps.   It is encouraged that you serve some time in the military, but it is entirely optional.

Company L-1 was formed in the Fall of 1969 when the Corps was reorganized to its present format.  With the exception of a brief period from 1980-1986 when we were disbanded, L-1 has been going strong.  To read the story of the formation of the new L-1,

In L-1, we stress class unity above all other things.  As the Corps saying "Per Unitatem Vis" says, "Strength through unity."  We feel that being in complete unity not only allows strength, but also allows good memories to be made that will be remembered forever.

Throughout the years, L-1 has been known throughout the Corps for having more members of Parsons' Mounted Cavalry than any other outfit in the Corps.  In the 2002-2003 school year, we have 6 seniors, 5 juniors, and sophomores in "the Cav".  Our members hold many key positions in the Cav, including Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, First Sergeant, Muleskinner, Guidon Bearer, Scout from last year, and the 2nd Platoon Leader.  Parsons' Mounted Cavalry is the last active cavalry ROTC unit in the country.

Aside from Parsons' Mounted Cavalry, our members are active in many other organizations, including the following:

Ross Volunteer Company
Rudder's Rangers
General O.R. Simpson Honor Society
Society of American Military Engineers
American Society of Mechanical Engineers
American Society of Civil Engineers
Texas A&M Rugby Team
Texas A&M Trap & Skeet
Texas A&M Off Road
University Honor Societies

Members of Company L-1 have also earned the reputation of maintaining high grades despite their involveent in many other activities.  The Class of 2003 placed 2nd in the Corps for grades for the Fall 2000 semester, and the Class of 2004 placed 3rd in the Corps for grades in both the Fall 2000 and Spring 2001 semesters.
