i stayed home for a little bit, mama actually seemed to enjoy having me there, and with jason around, everything was doing fine. then i got the call from the wrestling federation. they said that i had to come back out west, or they mght cancel my contract. fine, ok. so i had to say goodbye. i tried hard to find jason before i left, but he wasn't in his apartment. mary finally told me where he worked, yes, she had known all along and didn't tell me. so i went down to the school. the secretary really didn't want to let me in, but i insisted, so she had to. jason was sitting on the floor surrounded by a bunch of children, all of them special in their own way. he looked really shocked when i came in and told the kids that a special friend was here to see him and then he got up and came over to me. the way he gingerly picked his way through the mass of little wheelchairs and braces touched me softly. i almsot felt the feelings iused to , but i couldn't. i just couldn't afford to. i told him that i had to leave, and begged him to look after mary and mama. he promised he would and asked that i kept in touch.

"Don't forget about us out here, Carey. We all can't wait to see you go far."

he gave me a brief kiss on my cheek and went back to reading his young charges the book. i was so inspired by him, and the brave children, that i went out and bought a copy of that book just to carry with me to the west. i went back home and said goodbye. mary didn't cry, and mama wasn't home. it was time for me to go back out west, to a whole new life.
