loki

So you were hoping to see Loki? Well here he is chained beneath that tree. I know we are still some distance from him but I fear we go no closer. Even though he is bound to 3 giant boulders (one under his shoulders, one under his loins and one under his knees) he is still an evil no mortal should ever come face to face with.

Loki's heroic nature and handsome appearance often serve to confuse mortals and gods alike for he is rotten to the core. Malicious and crafty he chooses to use his talents and wit for evil rather than good, never forget he is responsible for the death of Baldur the god of light and joy. It is because of this that he is chained thus.

See the woman holding the bowl over his head ? That's his wife Sigyn, who remained loyal even though Loki has sired 3 bastard monsters by his mistress the giantess Angrboda (Fenrir, Hel and Jormungander the world Serpent). Wondering about the bowl ? It is being held there to catch the poison dripping from the fangs of a serpent placed in the tree above Loki's head. When the poison lands on him it causes great pain, the screams we heard upon entering Asgard came from Loki when Sigyn removed the bowl to empty it.

Come , we must be moving on this place scares me to no end and I will feel no ease until we are back in Midgard. While we walk I will tell you a few more interesting things about Loki.
First Loki is not a god though many believe him to be. He is actually the son of 2 giants, Farbauti (or cruel striker) and Laufey. Also he is able to control the elements of fire and magic as well as being able to change his shape at will. Frequently choosing those of a horse, fly or falcon. I hope you now know that Loki is a force best left alone. Should he become aware of your existence I'm certain his talents would be used to bend you to do his bidding.

Before you ask, No! I do not know why my parents have given me his name. It is a cross I've had to bear for many years but it was given me by two people who love me dearly so I will go by it always.
