Delicate Daughter
>part two<

D sat the little girl on his lap and told her not to worry, that he would take care of her.

"Do you speak english Min Poh?"

"Very small engrish."

"So I see...Where are your mommy and daddy?"

"Aunt Xang say mommy and daddy die."

"How did mommy and daddy die?" Min Poh didnt reply in english. She just said she didnt understand. D asked again in Chinese, and she replied. She said a fire broke out and wiped out most of her town. She said her aunt only taught her that much english, incase she needed it. Min Poh looked down to hide her small tears. D wiped them with his bony, thin fingers, and told her to wait right here with Q-chan. He came back out with two plates of cake. Min Poh looked at it like it was a foreign delicacy. She gobbled it down as soon as she got it, making D giggle.

"Leon, you look a little bothered." Jill said back at the station. Leon sat at his desk flipping pencils at the ceiling.

"It's D..."

"It's always D."

"Yea, but this isnt anything usual."

"Nothing with the pets? You always let him off the hook you know."

"No pet...a girl."

"Oh! So D's got a girlfriend? Wow, sorry Leon,"

"No, not a girlfriend, a little girl. A relative of sort..."

"She might be from that boat, Leon," Leon didnt reply. He knew if that was true, he'd have to take her away from D. Something told him that would hurt D terribly. Leon pushed the idea from his mind. He knew he loved D too much to hurt him. He got up from his desk and left, telling Jill he was going out for lunch.

Leon pulled up to the petshop and walked inside un-announced. D did his usual welcome speech, complete with Q-chan bowing. Leon asked if he could just sit down and relax for a while. D was thrilled by the self invite, and closed the shop for the afternoon. D sat down next to Leon with a cup of tea for the detective.

"D...tell me the truth about Min Poh."

"She's a friend of the family."

"Then she's a kami?"

"..." D offered Leon some cake, without answering his question. Leon asked again, but the Count still didnt reply. Leon asked one more time, only a little louder.

"...Min Poh...her parents are dead." Leon soon felt terrible. He knew what it was like to loose someone close to him.

"And...her Aunt is my best friend...So, I picked her up from the airport last night. She's a charming child. Maybe you shall get along well!" D smiled a big, beautifull smile, trying to cover-up the even bigger lie he had just un-raveled. Leon nodded, and saw Min Poh standing next to D.

"She really likes you, eh?" D said something to Min Poh in Chinese, and the little girl hugged Leon happily.

"Leon-Papa!" The girl said happily. Leon's face went into a deep, deep, blood red as he literally jumped out of the couch and landed on his back on the floor. D couldnt help but fall back into hysterical laughter. Min Poh looked at Leon in confusion. Leon looked at the hysterical D with a very embarrassed look.
"I...Im sorry Detective..! It's just...It was a joke...!!" D couldnt contain himself. He smiled though, he liked the sound of that name. He said goodbye to the Count, who had calmed himself, and left. D hugged Min Poh tightly, thanking her. Now, if only he can keep this lie up for just a little longer...
