| C-SPAN'S ENRON BANKRUPTCY SPECIAL GETS A LOIS2002 SUPPORTER'S MESSAGE WEDNESDAY NIGHT If anyone has been watching the special on C-SPAN about the Enron Banruptcy (Monday-Friday at 8:00 p.m. et.), on Wednesday's show a caller and one of our own, Brandon Long from Berea, KY called in and asked the following question... "Yes, Hello. Could have Campaign Finance Reform prevented this. And if so, what are your thoughts on it's opponents, such as Mitch McConnell, which will hopefully lose to Lois Combs Weinberg." The panelist repsonded by agreeing that Campaign Finance Reform would have somekind of influence on it, yet its still would have allowed Hard Money Contributions, but they didn't respond to the question about Mitch McConnell. You can find the online movie version at (The of the above spot in the RealPlayer version beginning at 29:54:0 or the 54th second of the 29th minute of the program)... http://video.c-span.org:8080/ramgen/ldrive/enr011602_special.rm |
| ALEXANDER FOR CONGRESS ENDORSES LOIS2002 Klint Alexander, Democratic Candidate for Kentucky's First Congressional District unofficially endorsed Lois Combs Weinberg. Brandon Long, one of our own asked Mr. Alexander the following question and recieved the following answer... _______________________________________________________ QUESTION: What are your thoughts on U.S. Senate Candidate Lois Comb Weinberg? ANSWER: Ive met Lois on several occasions and she would be an excellent US Senator. She is a compassionate person who believes in education, health care, and jobs for all Kentuckians. She has a tough road ahead of her, but I believe that 2002 is going to be the year of the Democrat across the nation. -Klint Alexander http://www.alexanderforcongress.com |

| McMUSHY SUPPORT? A poll this month of Kentucky voters by the Garin Hart Yang Research Group shows Sen. Mitch McConnell has done little in two terms to shore up his core electoral support. Today, only 40 percent of respondents would vote to re-elect McConnell -- the same percentage as in 1990 and 1996 - indicating he hasn't improved his base of support in more than a decade of service. Mitch's perceived ties to special interests were a key factor; just 26 percent of voters thought he was free from the influence of big money. But does he also stand up for the average worker? Sixty-three percent said "no." Though McConnell challenger Lois Combs Weinberg trails him 24-51 percent in this early match-up, one in four voters is undecided. Almost 60 percent of those undecided lean heavily Democratic, and the survey clearly shows Weinberg can capture much of that population when voters get to know her. Lois's "real life...outside of politics and Washington appeals to many voters. Lois is in touch with the average Kentuckian and therefore better equipped to speak on behalf of them and carry their voice to Washington," said campaign manager Tim Shock. Visit www.lois2002.com |
| WHO'S MINDING the STORE? U.S. Senate candidate Lois Combs Weinberg last week asked who was minding the store while Sen. Mitch McConnell continued his obsession with derailing reasonable campaign finance reform. "Kentuckians are wondering why their health care costs are spiraling, their Social Security funds are being raided and their children's education is being compromised," Combs Weinberg said. "Kentucky deserves a senator who's there for the people -- not special interest groups -- one hundred percent," said Combs Weinberg. "Clearly, it's time for Mr. McConnell to represent the hard working families who pay his salary, and get back to work on what's really important to Kentucky instead of leading lawsuits to stop bipartisan measures signed by the Republican president."
