This page is devoted to the The Dead End with Zandrah and Prawn (Sean) and Smacked about by Mark with Mark Raphael - two programmes I did my sit-ins with during the final leg of the Radio Training Course with 2RRR.  This course had a practical component to it, where we go to sit in (for three times) with a show (or two) of our choice.  And guess who I chose to sit in with to be in the 'hot seat'.

The dates I did my sit ins with The Dead End and Smacked about by Mark were:

(1) Monday, 21 May 2001;
(2) Monday, 28 May 2001 and;
(3) Monday, 4 June 2001.

On 21.05.01, I sat on the panel for the whole three hours.  Zandrah and Mark both had shown me how to use the panel, whether it was something I was taught by Tim Traegar and that I remembered it, something I was taught (but forgot) or something that Tim may have told me but I forgot.  I did not do too badly considering it was the first time I really had a go without Tim watching over my shoulder.

On 28.05.01, Brian Giffin, who was the author of The Australian Metal Guide (both a book and a website) and the host of Loud Online, paid us a visit.  Zandrah was on the panel while I assisted in interviewing 'Bryski' on air.  Also, Zandrah's friend, Bec, came in and talked about tattoos, body piercing and 'nipple talk' <hehehe>, temporarily distracting Mark from cueing a song when he was supposed to.

On 04.06.01, Gorgoroth (aka Gorgy) c/o Baltak, Buoi Omega, Battlegod Productions and now Avathalor, paid us a visit.  He spoke about his up-and-coming album with Baltak (where the listeners were able to get a sneak preview of the song), and about Behemoth, a Polish Black/Death metal band who were about to come to Australia, but for some reason or other, cancelled their tour.

In addition, I also assisted in making an overnight tape with Zandrah, Mark and Prawn on
July 21, 2001.  This was on the same day I was in for my Open Mic Session, where I was supervised by Peter Bryant, c/o the now defunct 'A Walk in the Black Forest' and with 'Smeg Radio', because Danielle Archer, c/o 'The Chocolate Frog Art Show' was unable to make it.  Whilst the tape was being made, Zandrah fell asleep hugging the lolly bowl while Mark kept on flashing his belly button at me (and then had the cheek to say I was getting aroused).  When Zan finally did wake up, she and Prawn had a fight over who got the lolly bowl, with her 'character' being a large orange frog and his being a little yellow jelly bean.  And you can hear it all on the overnight tape.  Click here for full playlist.

I then came in for the
Overnight Show on Christmas Eve:  'Supporting Satan not Santa' for 2001, which had a myriad of guests present - all of whom brought in something to play.  Mark brought in his collection of 'Hot Metal' magazines;  I brought in some grub (which Zandrah and Prawn absolutely loved); Dale of Macquarie Fields could barely keep awake while his mate, Dave, could barely keep his duds up (his shorts that is); Lee and Ben were being a pair of wangers, according to Kim West (who had the Best Hat for all Occasions); Gorgy was selling his CDs to everyone, and Streamer the Beagle was next door making an overnight tape.  What else could I say, except that a good time was had by all!!!
