Intro
There has been much controversy over exactly when we should
apply the scriptures to our lives today. I have heard one preacher say the Old
Testament only applied to the Jews and another says it applies to us also. One
bible college teaches the New Testament is for the church only and another
recognizes the New Testament as a commentary of the Old Testament. What I have
not heard them say is what God says on the subject.
In this lesson we will lay aside the teachings
of man and take a look at what the bible has to say about when the scriptures
apply to Christians of today. To do this we must understand what God intended
when He inspired the scriptures. In each book, God told us why the book was
written and to whom it applies.

the method of delivery and motivation of preachers and teachers have varied and
that, in itself, has dictated their expression of the message contained in the
scriptures. What we will do is look at the scriptures from God’s perspective and
it will also help us understand why the preachers and teachers have taught the
way they did in the past.
As we begin our study of this chapter, we must
first pray for God to allow His Holy Spirit to open our eyes to His scriptures.
Ask for the wisdom and understanding of what His will is concerning your life
today.
When you finish this chapter you should
