| Catch up on the latest family news....(as at April 2006) Here we go again another year has won a place in the history books, whilst father time again denies the natural order by giving birth to a new year. Its easy to see why the writer of the Biblical book of Ecclesiastes considered the big picture of life and surmised that all is vanity for it seems that, no matter what a year may bring, time rolls on relentlessly bringing with it its bag of good, not so good and downright dreadful memories. A child is born, a friend or relative dies, joy, sadness, gain, loss each in its season, each in its time. But time and life roll on. This year we were again robbed of family when our niece (Christines sisters daughter) finally succumbed to the brain tumour that she had fought so bravely, so well and for so long. At least we have the great consolation that she has gone to that place where time has ceased, having lost its power to steal or disappoint and we know that we will see her again when our silver cord is broken and we too enter into the place of perfect rest and peace that God has prepared for those who love Him- that place that is so much greater than any human eye has seen, ear has heard or has been imagined by any human mind. Meanwhile, back at the ranch. Frank has finally come to the end of his high school journey and now looks forward to what lies ahead for him. Frank is a great young man and we are full of confidence that, whatever he puts his hand to, he will meet with great success. Frank continues to play cornet with the Armidale City Band and contributed again to a great performance at the NSW State Brass Band championship. He also plays trumpet in the Armidale Youth Orchestra as well the Armidale Symphony Orchestra, where he was greatly honoured this year to take the first chair for trumpet. He has continued his involvement in soccer, refereeing the 14 years & 16 years games in the morning and the playing reserve grade in the Northern Inland Premier League in the afternoon. Frank is also becoming a multi talented musician with Bass guitar being added to his brass skills. He now often plays bass in the church band and even fills in as a lead singer! He's working as a bob cat driver for a while to earn a bit of a bank balance and get a break from study. Bronwyn continues to work part time with Young Life Australia and part time with the church. Bron is involved as a youth worker with Young Life and helps to run a Youth Centre in Armidale that focuses on providing a facility for aboriginal youth. She also runs a young mums and bubs programme at the youth centre. Of course, Bron is also a very talented musician - a great violinist and pianist and very handy on the bass guitar when she is needed in the church band. Bron has been part of a professional string trio and has played at several weddings at exclusive venues around the area. She is also a regular lead singer and occasional worship leader at church. Andrew has had some VERY big things happen in his life! In January 2005, Andrew married Kerrie Allen. It was a great day with his two sisters as bridesmaids and dad performing the ceremony. It was a wonderful sunny day for a garden wedding at the Saumarez Homestead followed by a reception at Archies in Armidale. In November, Andrew and his wife took over a Network Communication business (Optus Shop) and they are applying themselves well to making the business a success. Now if those changes and challenges arent enough, Andrew now finds himself about to enter another challenging role parenthood. Kerrie gave birth to their first child - a lovely little girl .... Zoe Serenity, born on 7th April! Drew has maintained his interest in flying and now has a private pilots licence. He is still frustrated by the cost of flying and the consequent time between flights means that it takes a LONG time to finish his training. Andrew is still involved with the SES, however he is somewhat limited in the time that he is able to give because of his necessary commitment to his new business venture. He still gets to go to the occasional call out and is needed when it comes to vertical rescues (cliff rescue) where he is one of only a small handful qualified to do the job and still answers the call for car accidents if the team is short handed. He continues to be one of the churchs drummers and has become fairly proficient in that role. Liz completed a year of teaching at Armidales PLC and then went off to Sydney this year to attend the Hillsong Leadership College where she is completing a diploma in worship ministry. She attends the Ryde Sattelite church and is involved in music leading (she has run the choir as well as being involved in playing and singing). This coming year, she will lead a connect group, a cell of the church. Whilst attending Hillsong College, Liz has worked in a shop in Castle Hill making and selling Teddy Bears and has recently moved on to another business where she sells perfumes. She is one of the "Head Students" at College this year. With all of the kids growing up, Chris is no longer a full time mother. Chris has been looking for some work and has found a part time niche helping out in a local framing shop. She is also an especially talented calligrapher and has started selling some of her work. Now saying that Chris is looking for work is not quite right she is looking for some paid work but has PLENTY of work that she does for the church, family and other individuals, not to mention her musical role. Chris is, of course, a very talented pianist but doesnt play as much now as she has in the past. Chris plays trombone in the Armidale City Band but has decided that she could handle another challenge and has taken up the euphonium. Chris also runs the churchs childrens ministry, a Mums and Bubs group and has a finger in a few more pies its quite exhausting just thinking about all that she does! David still finds enough to keep him fit and (too) busy. Naturally, the church creates plenty for him to do but he encourages people to get involved in the community and so tries to set an example. Hes on the Board of Jobs Australia, Divisional chaplain to the SES, referees soccer and coaches young referees. He continues to be excited by the direction that church has taken and the growth that has been experienced over the last year or so and is expecting to see great things happen in 2006. Well thats a bit of the picture that has been the life of the alphabet family (A,B,C,D,E & F Logan) this year. We trust that your year has been exciting too and that youll have a great 2006. You can catch up with a few pictures and other things on the other pages of our web site or the church site. Have a great day and enjoy looking around our site. |
