This project started in May 2004
As of March 2005 it became road legal and has been terroraising the neighbourhood since.
The old 1.0 litre engine, aka 'The Hairdryer'
Sand Blasted seams ready for stitch welding
Preparing the engine for removal from donor Car
Welding complete awaiting spraying
One 2.0 16v 'Redtop' engine.
A new cambelt and tensioners were fitted prior to fitting.
Its a tight squeeze, but with careful asjustment to engine mounts it fits without needing to modify the chassis leg. However without using competition mounts it does catch under heavy cornering.
Installing the cavalier gearlinkage not only gives a better feel and shorter throw, it also frees the transmission tunnel for easy routing of the custom exhaust.
