Careless in his youth, given to driving fast cars with little
regard for safety, over-pleased with the sense of excitement, it provides him,
the Sagittarian at least learns more from his mistakes than any other signs.
Although his delight in personal freedom never leaves him, he will eventually be
able to make full use of formidable intellectual potential, studying serious,
perhaps philosophical subjects. His early years will be somewhat unconventional.
He will turn up at a dinner party with a sweater when everyone else was formally
dressed, and he will be given the impression of being more interested in sports
and outdoor activities than in the intellectual exercise which he really needs.
He will particularly enjoy exploring subjects unknown to him - languages are a
Sagittarian field - storing his knowledge and later putting his knowledge to
good use. He will set his sights on an objective which seem beyond him, as it
comes within reach, he will rise his sights still higher and be anxious to start
on a new project almost before he completed the old one. The Sagittarian always
needs to feel free, he cannot stand the slightest feeling of claustrophobia,
either physical or emotional. The symbolism, which gives the Sagittarian symbol
a free-raging, pointed arrow and often a body of a horse, is significant. He
will often be devoted to riding, as well as to other sports, which involve
movement through open country. His exploration through the unknown may well be
both physical and intellectual, and is certainly true of him to travel hopefully
is better than to arrive'. His life must always contain some element of
challenge. The Sagittarian is versatile and like the Geminian, needs to have
more than one task on hand at a time. It is not unusual for him to hold down two
jobs. As he needs great deal of intellectual exercise, so he needs an above
average amount of physical exercise. If he feels tired, it usually means he is
bored, and a change of occupation will be restorative. Ever effort should be
made to keep this restlessness under control, as otherwise it will cause
considerable unhappiness to the subject and his marriage partner.
