09/28 - i went to the UH Warriors football game against the Rice Owls yesterday @ Aloha Stadium. along w/ my older sis & her sorority, we enjoyed
the KEO tailgate party, the food, & the football game--of course. 1 of the sorority girls, Julia, painted my back w/ the "H" logo, & it turned out really great
(from what i heard 'cause i couldn't see
it). well, the football game was really exciting
--may be 'cause i was sitting in the 2nd row this time. then after the game, we went to Cold Stone @ Ward to get ice cream. standing in line was pretty funny
'cause there were a lot of people in line & in the store & they were all staring
@ my painted back. several people asked me who won the game, & i'd have fun
replying, "How'd you know i went to the game?" just to play w/ them. you know what
? a football game can be quite a stress
reliever 'cause of all the cheering & screaming

you do. well, that's what i think
. before i go...
Happy 20th Birthday MAYNARD
!!!
09/27 -Happy 20th Birthday TARA
!!!
09/26 - 1stly,Happy Birthday MOMMY
!!! now...T.G.I.F
!! i'm so glad
the weekend is finally here. to make it
even better, i finally mustered up enough courage to go inside Sinclair library to borrow dvds. actually, i was there, most importantly, to find a book for my AMST 202 class that was on the reserve shelf. i completed the 1st reading assignment within the 2 hr. time limit i was given, & then headed up to the 3rd floor to the audiovisual center. that's where i went on the computer to request the dvds i wanted to borrow & picked them up. i know you're thinking
, "so, what's the big deal?", but to me it was 'cause i'm so intimidated of the 2 libraries on campus. as soon as you walk through the doors of any of those 2 libraries, you immediately see
the hoard of students studying on the tables, sitting in chairs, reading & finding books, etc. you need to tread very softly in there & keep your voice very low or you're gonna get a lot of nasty looks
from a lot of people. plus, i was planning to find dvds of Korean movies to borrow, & i felt like a dumbo doing that since i don't look
Korean nor do i speak it. anyways, i ended up borrowing Harmonium of my Heart starring my handsome
Lee Byung-Hun. the movie was very heart-warming
& wonderful
. the storyline moved along very naturally & had great
character development. now i completely agree
how great
Korean cinema have developed. compared to
the Chinese & Japanese films i've seen
, Korean films have better quality.
Synopsis: It's set in 1963 in the small & poor town of Sanri. Kang Su-ha is a 21-year-old school teacher who just arrived to begin his 1st teaching job out of Teaching School. Su-Ha is very nervous & clumsy, & has a hard time keeping his class in order. He makes the acquaintance of Yang Eun-hee, a lovely young woman who's also new to the school, after he finally worked up the courage to talk to her. Throughout the school year, Su-Ha & Eun-hee secretly swap LPs. However, Su-Ha has an unexpected obstacle in that potential romance. 1 of his students, 17-year-old Yoon Hong-yeon, has an immense crush on him, &
isn't about to make it easy for him to pursue the woman of his dreams.
(found & altered from blockbuster.com)09/22 - last night was the Gamma Chi Sigma congratulations dinner for the soon-to-be pledges. the dinner was held @ the Lai Yee Chai Restaurant in Waikiki. the food there was delicious
, & i had fun
bonding w/ my pledge class. now comes the hard part of juggling my time to accommodate the meetings & activities i'll be participating in to become a part of the sorority. let's hope i can do all that, possibly find a job, & be able to maintain my studies.
09/21 - i just finished watching
The Life & Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby mini-series on the Bravo channel. the mini-series is based on the novel Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens, the man who also wrote The Christmas Carol. i had never read the book, but i did read the theatrical screenplay that was in my high school english book. my class was never assigned to read it, but i read it 1 day out of boredom. i caught The Life & Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby mini-series by chance this morning after i woke up. for the next 4 hrs., i was caught up in the story & the plight of the characters, especially Nicholas Nickleby was played the handsome
James D'arcy. @ 1st i kept watching
the mini-series because of the handsome
James D'arcy whom i had seen
in the t.v. movie The Case of Evil as Sherlock Holmes. later, i found the plot so entertaining
that i couldn't stop watching
'cause i wanted to know what would happen w/ the rivalry between Nicholas & his wretched
uncle. the Bravo produced The Life & Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby mini-series was wonderfully made & acted by all their actors & actresses.
the plot was very entertaining
w/ all it's twists & turns.
Synopsis: The film begins w/ the burial of Mr. Nickleby whom died broke. His son Nicholas then needs to find money to provide for his mother & sister Kate. He seeks help from his uncle Ralph Nickleby, a cold-hearted businessman, but monetary assistance is refused. However, a job is arranged for Nicholas to assist @ a boarding school operated by Wackford Squeers, a sadistic overlord who whips & starves his students. When Nicholas can no longer endure the cruelty & atrocity inflicted by Squeers on the young kids, he rebels against the inhumane conditions @ the school, thrashes Squeers, & flees. Smike, a pitiful & sickly student who's suffered from the abuse, follows Nicholas & they quickly become inseparable, loyal friends. By chance, they become actors @ a small theatre run by the Crummles family after Nicholas's uncle banishes him from London. When Kate gets a job @ a dressmaking shop, her jealous colleagues get her fired. Her uncle then acquaints her w/ some horrid & vicious young admirers; gentlemen by status but not definition. After a long separation from his mother & sister, Nicholas leaves the theatre & hastily returns home to save his sister from the sinister plot cooked up by his evil uncle. Nicholas is later offered a job @ a counting house operated by the kindly Cheeryble brothers. After Uncle Nickleby tricks Kate into meeting his friend Sir Mulberry Hawk & is strong-armed onto a billiard table, Nicholas & Uncle Nickleby become enemies. Then Uncle Nickleby uses his financial leverage to force an innocent young woman, Madeleine Bray, to marry 1 of his cronies. Nicholas foils the plot 'cause he's fallen in love w/ Madeleine. Uncle Nickleby tries to strike back @ his nephew through Smike, but he fails. However, Smike unfortunately dies. Uncle Nickleby later learns the startling secret that Smike was his unknown son of an elopement many years before. From there the principal characters' fate are revealed. (found & altered from blockbuster.com) 09/20 - yesterday i got my left ear flushed out w/ water 'cause i had ear wax plugging my small ear canal. i had been having problems w/ that ear for a couple days, & it was beginning to hurt
. i couldn't handle walking around & waking up w/ a deaf left ear anymore, so i finally went down to the University Health Services to get my ear checked out. the doc told me my use of q-tip lead wax to be pushed in to my ear canal, which it's diameter is small. the nurse flushed out my ear w/ warm water, & a bunch of yucky ear wax came out
. ah, i'm so relieved
i can hear again on the left ear. however, it left my ear canal irritated from the ear wax coming out or the flushing process. luckily it's not infected, so the doc didn't have to prescribe ear drops for me. other than that, my older sis ordered me to go w/ her & her friends down to the Ho'olaulea (Aloha festival block party) in Waikiki last night. unfortunately, we arrived too late, & went karaoke
instead. it's been a long time since i went karaoke
, & it was pretty fun
. tomorrow i've got my Gamma Chi Sigma congrats dinner to attend 'cause i was chosen as 1 of their pledges
. i'm so looking forward to it
!!
09/13 - i just got back from the Gamma Chi Sigma's (invitational only) 3rd rush @ Momoyama Restaurant located inside Princess Kaiulani Hotel in Waikiki. i had a really fun
time. the event reminded me of my 8th grade luncheon 'cause it was the afternoon & practically everyone was dressed semi-formally. plus, we had the entire dining area to ourselves. the girls sitting on my table were wonderful & funny
, & the food served was very delicious
(except for the sashimi, 'cause i don't like raw food or fish). however, being assigned to a table to give me much of a chance to talk to the other girls...oh well. the rushees were given champagne glasses w/ a yellow rose floating in green water as party favors--very beautiful
. next week i'll find out if i got chosen to pledge, & i'm hoping i do get chosen. i'd really like to broaden my horizen, & meet new & interesting people i probably wouldn't have met under different circumstances. i've got my fingers crossed
!!!
09/12 - i took studio photos last night w/ my friends @ Expressions located @ Ala Moana. our appointment was @ 6:30 p.m., but we didn't get out of there 'til 10 p.m. can you believe that
?! are you wondering what took us so long to finish taking pictures
?? well, after we took pictures in 2 different poses, the camera's flash suddenly didn't work anymore
. the photographer tried to fix it for awhile, & then was on the phone getting help. when the flash did go off & we tried to take pictures once more, the flash wouldn't work. that went on for an hour or
so. we waited in the room, & then went outside to play w/ the hats & the wig. i tried on this wig w/ long, layered caramel brown hair & blonde highlights. wow
, i barely recognized
myself in the mirror. the wig looked
good on me
. w/ a hat on, you probably wouldn't know i was wearing a wig. i liked the feeling of having long flowing hair. it's been a long time since i've had hair long like that, which is why i'm growing out my hair now. by the end of this year, my hair should touch my shoulders or close to that. okie, back to the picture taking. during the wait, my friends & i got food @ the mall's food court 'cause we were hungry. when we got back to the studio, the manager had arrived & fixed the cam's flash. we got back on track w/ the rest of the picture taking, figured out which pose to pick, which package to choose, & how much to pay. we got a free sheet of photo stickers for the trouble caused. the pictures we took came out really great
.
09/11 - today marks the 2nd anniversary of the attack on the pentagon & world trade center. wow, 2 years have passed since that horrible day that changed the landscape of America forever. not a day goes by when i think of that incident or see the evidence of it's affect. i hope for the day when all the people of this world may live in peace & harmony.
09/10 - last night was the 2nd rush of Gamma Chi Sigma, & the theme was go greek. the sisters were dressed in yellow & green togas, which was quite a sight
. i had a good
time, & i hope an invitation will be extended to me for the invitation only 3rd rush. i know i have a good chance of getting in since my older sis is in sorority, & i have 3 of her sisters in my classes. that's not to say i'm automatically in. it's just that i feel i've been clicking w/ those girls & the other sorority sisters i've met
. i don't expect to receive or want any special treatment as a possible legacy (biological sister of a sorority sister who's also a part of the sorority sisterhood). i want to be treated like the other rushees & soon-to-be pledges. now i gotta wait for the letter & the phone call...
09/07 - Amy's Birthday party last night @ the Ohana Malia hotel was fun
. i met
some new people, & had a great
time hanging out w/ my friends. i played 2 drinking games, & got my cousin to exempt her pledge not to drink 'til she turn 21 last night. i know i should have supported her self-imposed pledge, but she was so tempted @ the party. plus, there's so much upcoming events for her not to be able to celebrate
. therefore, we're going to give her 1 exemption each month to drink for a special occasion, like her birthday next month. i left the party quite early around 11 or 12 a.m. 'cause i had to get up early today. Thu & Kelsey were going to another party, so they were kind enough
to give me a ride home. THANKS
!! i'm just gonna chill around the house now. bye
.
09/04 -Happy 20th Birthday AMY
!!!
09/03 - here's the update: i got my apology. now i gotta tell you 'bout a funnyincident. yesterday when my older sis was paying for the cell phone bill @ Kahala Mall, i had to use the bathroom. the bathroom @ Kahala Mall is down a winding hall. you walk down the steps to a hall w/ a turn 'bout 20 ft. away. mirrors are placed in the corner so you can see
the hallway @ the turn. i'm walking closer to the mirror, & see
a girl @ the other hallway walking towards the corner. then i think
, "hey, that girl looks
like my friend Li. but i don't think
that's her 'cause what would she be doing @ Kahala Mall right now. i'm sure she's either working or in class." then i get closer to the corner & the mirror. the girl @ the other hallway then looks
into the mirror. @ the point, we're standing in the middle of the hallway just staring
@ each other in the mirror. she turns the corner of the hallway, & we finally see
each other physically. what a coincidence to meet her in
that way. it seemed like it was a scene from a movie. ain't that funny
?
09/02 -Happy 20th Birthday TO ME
!!!
09/01 - my friends took me out to dinner @ Sansei & dancing @ Venus last night for a pre-birthday celebration. wasn't that so wonderful of them
? i had never eaten @ Sansei before last night, & their
food was pretty good
. my friends shared their sushi w/ me, & i found them very delicious & delightful. i especially loved the tempura fried ice cream i had for dessert. i know it sounds kinda funky & yucky
, but it's actually very delicious
. the waiter told us how the tempura fried ice cream was made, so maybe i'll try make it 1 day. Thanks to everyone who came to dinner, paid for my meal, & gave me a lei
! i luv u
! after dinner, we split up in 3 groups going to different places w/ the intent of meeting @ Venus later on in the night, except for Li & Howard. i went w/ Kelsey & Thu to pick up extra V.I.P tickets for Venus, to pick up my b-day gift, & Ward. then we went to Jodi's house to hang out for a bit. from there we finally headed down to Venus. there wasn't much going on
when we arrived, but it picked up an hour later when more people arrived & people were on the verge of drunkness
. the girls & i danced a little while we waited for our friends to come. when they still didn't arrive, we sat on the couches to chill & chat
. then Jodi's fren came, & we headed in to the V.I.P room. we could've gone in there earlier, but we felt uncomfortable
going in to a room full of strangers who seem to know each other but us. we got tired
of waitin' for the girls to arrive, so we decided to leave. we planned to meet @ Venus around 11:30 p.m. & leave around 1:30 a.m. well, it was way past 1:30 a.m., & every 5 mins. or 30 mins. my friends said they'd arrived in turned into hours 'cause they were drinking. drunk boy tried begging me to stay @ the club on the phone, but i had enough of staring
@ the entrance for them. my "friends", who didn't come to the dinner, arrived when we were waiting to get the car from valet. they did a drive-by of "hi's" & "bye's" 'cause the valet service was full. that ended my pre-birthday celebration on a sour note
. i barely get to see
those 2 girls, & they go drinking when they're supposed to meet me. they give me an estimate of meeting @ the club around 11 p.m. after the take a shower, change clothes, & return a friend's car 'cause they didn't get off work 'til 10:30 p.m. an hour later, they say they're going to drink then meet me. geez
, where the hell is their priorities
? then when they get another phone call to check on their arrival, it's another story. did they think we were calling them to make sure they're not dead
? i'm glad the 3 girls who were w/ me was keeping me company & happy
. even though it wasn't my b-day, they (& those @ the dinner) made me feel special like it was 'cause they weren't gonna be able to celebrate on my b-day or see
me. let's see
if i'm gonna get the apology needed from those who ruined
my night....
