05/30 - i had dinner w/ Shan, Tara, & Brandi @ The Greek's Corner last night. now Shan & i have accomplished our goal of eating Mediterranean food is now . we originally wanted to try Middle Eastern food, but Tara & Brandi weren't interested. so we compromised w/ Greek food instead 'cause that's kinda close, right
? Greek food isn't that bad. my order was pretty tasty. a funny
scene @ the The Greek's Corner occurred when our server was teasing
Tara. he overheard us calling
her name, so he'd say her name & ask if she wants desert or make a funny
remark 'bout her still talking
on the phone, etc. it's a "you had to be there" moment to get it. after dinner w/ just the girls, we met
w/ the guys @ a parking lot, & they drove up to papa john's in mapunapuna to chill w/ a friend of their's who work there. we all hung out there for a while, & i took a joy ride in Brandon's "bus" w/ Brandi driving--LOL
!! i had a pretty good evening out w/ the girls. i'm not sure
when i'll get together again--hopefully it'll be soon. oh yeah..Congrats to Brandi who finally got her driver's license.
05/28 - i got to see
Brandi & Tara for the 1st time in a month last night. i met up w/ Shan & Brandi @ Gyotaku around 9:50 p.m. (i was late..hee hee
!), & we walked to Brandi's house that's only 'bout a couple of blocks aways 'cause none of us has a car. after Brandi changed clothes & grabbed her camera, we walked down to Neal Blaisdell Center to meet Tara, Blaine (Tara's younger bro), Brent, Richard, & Raymond) 'cause they were @ the 50 Cent concert. i didn't go 'cause i'm
not much of a rap listener unless it's playing on the radio or in the clubs. just when we arrived @ NBC, the concert just ended & people were walking out. gosh, walking through the crowd & seeing
the type of people who attended the concert made me kinda scared
. those people looked
tough. seeing
how the girls were dressed reminded me of rap/hip-hop videos w/ hoochie girls running around wearing close to nothing. anyway..after everyone met up, we went down to the McCully shopping center where the guys went to eat @ Curry House, & the girls went to Taco Bell. it was nice to have all us 4 girls together talkin' story--so fun
! @ 12 a.m. everyone was in the parking lot talkin' story. then i went home around 1:30 a.m.. i had a nice
time, & i believe we'll be going out again tomorrow night for dinner. i think
i'm supposed to plan it. oh well. i'm tired
so i'm gonna end it here.
05/26 - feeling extremely tired
right now. i spent 'bout 7 hours working @ the restaurant silently dealing w/ my irritable
back 'cause of my sunburn. yesterday was a fun-filled day @ the beach
. i met up w/ Shan @ 9:30 a.m. @ Magic Island. we spent the 1st hour & a 1/2 sitting @ a picnic table (near the lagoon) talking
'bout all kinds of things--mostly catching up on each other's lives. then we headed over towards the sailing area of Magic Island 'cause there was a surfing event, & we were watching
the surfers. after that, we headed down to the sand for some much needed tanning. we spent 'bout an hour chatting
& napping
under the blazing hot sun & cloudless blue sky. then we jumped into the water--soo refreshing
! we spent 'bout 30 mins.
swimming in the water before we got out to dry up & head towards the stone wall. we sat on the cement next to it watching
a surfer catch some waves, & be amazed by the sight of waves crashing along the rocks & spraying us w/ water. then we walked along the pathway in Magic Island towards Ala Moana Beach Park to see
if a friend of ours was there for his canoe club's pinic. he was there & was participating in their relay races when we arrived. we stayed there for awhile just watching
before we decided to leave w/o saying "hello" 'cause he seemed busy. next, we headed to Ala Moana Shopping Center's food court for lunch before we walked down to Queen's Beach in Waikiki for the Sunset on the Beach event. a funny
scene from yesterday was when me & Shan went to use a bathroom in Waikiki that had a mirror. we had been checking on each other earlier @ the beach if there were signs of a sunburn, but found nothing serious or obvious until
we looked
into the mirror. oh my goodness
, we couldn't believe how red our shoulders & back was, & the pinkness in our face. we were in such disbelief
'bout it, & laughing
'bout the situtation, too. then we walked Waikiki for a bit more acting like tourists, & then headed down to Maynard's place to persuade him to join us for the Sunset on the Beach 'cause everyone we invited was M.I.A. he was waxing his car @ the time, & we stayed there for awhile catching up 'cause we haven't seen
each other in months. an hour later, Maynard gave us a short ride down to Queen's Beach where Shan & i had to search
for a place to sit since it was soo crowded. the movie aired was Daredevil starring Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner. the movie was alright--nothing great & spectacular, but not horrible either. about 15 mins. before Daredevil was to end, Kelsey,Thu, & Anna showed up--finally
!!! we walked around Waikiki for a little while after the movie ended before we ended up @ in the Hawaii Kai area. we stayed there for a while just chatting, & then went home. ah..what a event filled day that me & Shan kept sighing that more people couldn't join us in our fun
. me & Shan spent just about all day w/ each other, & talked
just about everything there
was to talk about...i wonder if there's a topic we haven't covered yet, hmm..
?
Synopsis: Based on 1 of Marvel Comics' most popular character. Matthew Murdock is a lawyer in New York's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood who was left orphaned after his father, a boxer on the come-back trail, was killed by gangsters when he was a boy. Since then, Matt has devoted his life to bringing wrongdoers to justice. He'll help others by taking on cases no other attorney will touch. Matt is also blind--after an accident that doused him w/ hazardous waste as a boy. While his sight may be gone, his other senses have been heightened to a keen pitch that act like a radar sense. Murdock puts his gifts to use @ night as the costumed crime-fighter Daredevil, whose pursuit of justice has earned him the wrath of underworld leader Kingpin. Kingpin wants Daredevil out of his way, & hires Bulls-eye, a super-assassin w/ a sharp percision, to kill him. Daredevil also meets Elektra Natchios, a woman w/ superheroic talents who's also on Kingpin's bad side. For Daredevil justice is blind, & for the guilty there's hell to pay. (found & altered from blockbuster.com) before i forget to mention, today is Memorial Day. i'd like to thank the veterans & those in the armed forces who have given their lives & put themselves on dangerous grounds to serve their country, & protect it's democracy. they're the heroes who give me the easy job of seeing all the horrors of war & terrorism on t.v., newspapers, & photos while they're out there in the front line & seeing it 1st hand. your heroism will not be forgotten. THANK YOU
!
05/23 - just realized i forgot to mention the film Tess i watched
the other day on video. Tess is an old film directed by the infamous Roman Polanski. that's the same director w/ the controversy surrounding him on rape charges many years ago, & recently winning an Oscar for the film The Pianist. his adaptation of Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles was nominated in various categories, & won many prestigious awards, including best director & best film. however, i didn't really enjoy his adaptation. i prefer watching
the A&E adaptation w/ Justine Waddell because i find that film more compelling & truer to the book. in my opinion, Tess was a let down because i don't think
the characters were developed enough for an audience to really care 'bout Tess's struggles & the events that were taking place. the Tess storyline had no flow 'cause it was jumping here & there. The characters were introduced w/o a background of who they are to the storyline, & what the meaning of their prescence was. then again, maybe my having seen
A&E's Tess of the d'Urbervilles 1st lead me to look
@ Roman Polanski's Tess in a bias view. oh, here's a little funny
story 'bout the Tess film: the Korean drama All In, which just began playing on KBFD this past Thurs., had images of Tess in the background of 1 scene in the 1st episode. i had just finished watching
Tess when i began watching
All In. in that scene, it was set back in the late 1970s in a movie theater, & the characters are watching
Tess right before a fight breaks out. i was in disbelief
to see
Tess playing on the movie screen...
! when i rewounded my tape, i noticed the billboard in front of the theater
was advertising the Tess film. gosh, what a coincidence.
Synopsis: A rural clergyman in 19th-century England tells John Durbyfield, a simple farmer, he's descended from the illustrious knightly d'Urberville family that's now extinct--or not. Durbyfield sends his daughter Tess to check on a family named d'Uberville living in a manor house less than a day's carriage ride away hoping they'll help their poor relations. Alec d'Urberville is delighted to meet his beautiful "cousin", & seduces her. However, Alec's family are not real d'urbervilles, but rather a social-climbing family which merely bought the name. Tess leaves the "d'urbervilles" estate, & gives birth to Alec's child which later dies. While working @ a diary farm, Tess meets & fall in love w/ Angel Clare--a gentlemen who's there on an apprenticeship. She struggles w/ having found love & then losing it. Her poor family's situation worsens w/ the lost of her father--leaving her to make decisions w/ a domino effect of unforseen consequences. (found & altered from imdb.com & blockbuster.com) 05/22 - ugh, tired
. i didn't work @ the restaurant in the morning & afternoon, like usual, today. instead my older sis & i switched shifts 'cause she's going to the attend the play The Vagina Monologues @ the Hawaii Theatre. lucky her
. i wished i would've gone, but me no have $$
. i didn't do much today. i mostly lounged around the house after i cleaned up my room. now it doesn't look as cluttered, which is wonderful
.
05/20 - it was so busy today, & now i'm soo tired
. i got a major headache
. after work i went to Costco w/ my older sis to check out how much an eye
examination will cost 'cause i need to update my glasses & get contacts--which are expensive. i saw
raymond, henry, & george there. later i picked up younger bro, & went home to watch
the dvd & video i borrowed from the library. instead i watched
THE LOVER on the oxygen channel while talkin' to shan on the phone. we we're catching up & making plans to get together this sun. @ the beach. my legs are so damn white--they definately need to be tanned, & have this strange
inclination to go the beach & just chill. i should take advantage of living in beautiful Hawaii--right
? okie, back to the movie THE LOVER. i thought
it was alright for an international films. i kinda didn't get the motives
of the main characters in THE LOVER, so my older sis had to explain it to me. it's definately an interesting love
story.
Synopsis: It's the adaptation of Marguerite Duras' novel set in 1929 during the French Colonial rule in Vietnam about forbidden love. A teenaged French girl who's family is having monetary difficulties is returning to a Saigon boarding school. She's alone on public transportation when she catches the eye of a wealthy Chinese aristocrat/businessman years older than herself. He offers her a ride into town in his chauffeured sedan, & the sparks fly. A torrid affair ensues w/ them meeting in his "bachelor room" where they revel in a variety of creative sexual encounters. However, they'll realize their love is doomed due to class restrictions & social mores of the time. She comes from a troubled family that includes a mentally-disturbed mother & a drug-addicted brother. It appears her family won't approve of an interracial tryst, & neither would his family since he'll inherit his father's wealth if he doesn't break from the traditional Chinese arranged marriage. (found & altered from imdb.com & blockbuster.com) later i got a call from Anna asking me out to dinner w/ the rest of the girls, & i went. we ate @ Gauchos Grill @ Ward. my food was good--nothing fantastic & wonderful, but not horrible & nasty either. we took lots of pictures there, but i unfortunately forgot to bring my camera--damn it! after we went to a friend's house who was having a barbeque @ the time, but we didn't stay long there. then i just went home. kinda early in the evening to be home though..oh well. it was nice to be out w/ the girls.
05/18 - i'm soo tired
from last night. i went out to scoozee's last night for the Saavy event held by aznlyfe.com, which was organized by my cousin. i arrived there @ 12:30 a.m. to find my friends already drunk. then i danced a little, drank a little, & mingled a little. it was alright there, but then i went down to waterfront cafe @ aloha towers, which was a more slammin' club to get down & dirrty...hee hee
. i got to dance lots down there, & saw
some people there who also went to scoozee's earlier. i left all my drunk friends back @ scoozee's & didn't even get to meet my other friends who just arrived to meet up w/ my older sis @ Waterfront. today i was busy washing clothes & being a chauffeur to my younger sis & her bf 'cause his car is broken. @ kahala mall, i saw
, by chance, my friend's ex-bf. ha ha
, i also saw
his a$$ crack
!! apparently he got hit in the crotch by his friend's girl 'cause he was teasing her or something. whatever the case, i saw
him go down fast. even if he was just joking around, his bending down left all the people walking by seeing
his a$$ out in the open. i wonder if he's ever thought
of wearing underwear...
???
05/16 - took my last final yesterday, & it (WS 462 exam) wasn't that bad--knock on wood. i was reading
1 of my friend's Xanga page yesterday, & found out some surprising
news 'bout a person we attended middle school & high school w/. that girl is apparently quite successful in Japan & Korea doing the singing & modeling thing. i just visited her website, & she looks
great. seeing
her success made me reflect on my life & compare it to hers, & it's obviously not remotely as exciting as hers. i knew she got record contract of some sort from a Japanese record company, but boy does she look like a rising star in her website. it's amazing
how much can go on within the 2
years after the high school graduation. wow
, people really do go in different directions after high school.
05/14 - took my Chinese written exam today. it was soo hard
!! i got some tips from a fellow classmate who took the exam earlier in the morning 'cause he was taking another exam @ the same time as the Chinese exam. the tips sorta helped, but my stupidity
was holding me back from getting too far. ha ha
..i was sorta to dozing off during the exam, & had to keep trying to keep myself conscious. after i chatted
for a little while w/ my cousin 'cause she finished taking the exam (same 1 i was taking) right outside the class we just came out from. i haven't chatted
w/ her a long time, so it was nice. however, i spotted
this Caucasian girl that was in my Chinese class fall semester not too far away from us. she always stops people she knows to chat
'bout class & stuff, & she was talking to another former classmate @ the time. w/ me, she'll try to chat
to me in Mandarin even though we've only had a year of learning it. her Mandarin is horrible & so is mine. she takes a long time trying to structure 1 sentence while i'm just standing their nodding & smiling
hoping the torture is over. look
...when i'm outside of Chinese class, i'm in my English-speaking mode. i ain't in the mood to fluster around & figure out how to say something in mandarin when it's going to be so much easy to converse in English & get the small chit-chat
out of the way. it's already weird
enough to only know the Chinese names of the peeps in the class, which you see
5x a week, & try say "hi!" to them outside of class @ a club setting or where evers. so the girl suddenly pops up next to me, & interrupts my convo. w/ my cousin whom doesn't know the white chick. there we all were, i'm trying to talk to my cousin, & the girl tries to start a convo. w/ me. after much blah, my cousin tells me i had a little black smudge (from my eyeliner) under my right eye. i wiped it away telling her it's because i was falling asleep
during the exam, & my eyes were watering
up. the girl then asked if it was because i thought the exam was tough--huh
?? now she's trying to imply i started crying 'cause i found the exam hard--can you believe that
?! finally my cousin & i parted ways in the opposite direction leaving the girl standing there. but that's not all. i walked towards the parking structure side while my cousin walked toward the Student services center, & the girl followed her. the girl eventually called out to my cousin even though she doesn't know her name to chat
some more. seeing
them so far away, i thought
i'd call up my cousin to check up on the girl. apparently my phone called saved her from the irritating girl. even though she was on the phone talking to me, the girl was still yapping 'bout something to her. weird, huh
? eventually the girl went away noticing my cousin was stilling talking on the phone...LOL
!!
05/12 - took my POL 336 final exam this morning. i came 1/2 an hour early to school to find the classroom, but found an empty room w/ lights off instead. i started to freak
out thinking i had written down the wrong room number or building. therefore,
i called up a classmate to check on the room number, but she didn't pick up. so i went to the bathroom hoping someone would show up while i was gone. sure enough 1 person did show up, & had some small chit chat w/ him 'bout the exam. then i checked my phone to see
i had missed some calls 'cause it was on the vibrate mode. i called my classmate back while she was leaving a message on my voice mail, & she arrived 'bout 10 mins. later. the exam started @ 7:30 AM & i didn't finish it 'til 12:15 PM--can you believe that
?! the exam was open book, but it was in an essay format & the time just flew by so quickly. i know you're thinking
that sounds quite easy, but try writing 3 essays comparing & contrasting topics on Non-western political philosophy. my hands, forearm, & back were aching after the excruciating exam. the professor gave the class as much time as we needed, & 2
people were still there when i left. i hope i did well on the exam. i wanna pass w/ a B even though my attendance for that class is
very spotty. then i went down to the restaurant to see
the old Japanese couple that had eaten @ the restaurant last year when they were in Hawaii vacationing. it's not hard to forget them 'cause the guy was joking
around w/ me & my cousin calling himself King Kamehameha--
! however, i think he was drunk
@ the time. kinda cool they came to eat @ the restaurant while they're once again vacationing in Hawaii. after that, this cute
surfer-looking
customer came in to eat. he's a regular which eats the same thing every time he comes in. he used to eat w/ this chick, but i haven't seen
her lately..hmm...
. he's a nice guy, but he was much nicer to me today & tried to make small talk 'bout my day. turns out he goes to KCC & should be transferring to UH-Manoa soon
. he asked my 'bout the Pho 'cause he haven't tried it & was thinking 'bout eating that next time. when he
paid for his food @ the counter, my mom encouraged him to try the Pho next time, & he said he would 'cause my description of the food sounded good. then he gave me a & i was gonna give him his .80 change, but he just said, "it's all you." & left...LOL
! later when i was driving from my bro's school & going to pick up my older sis in school, i saw
my friend Tara walking across the street when i was @ a stop. i called her cell phone, but she didn't pick up--that ruined my surprise. i left her a message & tried calling her back. she picked up the 2nd time & told her 'bout me driving past her. i had a nice little chat w/ her. it's been a month since i last saw
& chatted
w/ her. i miss not seeing
her all the time like we used to. before i go study for my Chinese & WS 452 finals, i gotta tell you 'bout the movie i just saw
on the Bravo channel. it was The Man In The Moon starring a teenaged Reese Witherspoon & Jason London--yummy
! i didn't realized that i had seen
the movie a long time ago, but i vaguely remembered some parts. The
Man In The Moon is a very good movie 'bout the pains of a 1st love
@ a young age--very heartbreaking
.
Synopsis: Set in rural Louisiana in 1957, the film chronicles the coming-of-age of a young teenage girl w/ the bewilderment, awkwardness, & fresh excitement of adolescence. Dani is a 14-year-old girl who shares a room w/ her 17-year-old sister Maureen. During hot summer nights, they sleep on the screened-in back porch of their home, talking about romance, the future, & the meaning of life. Moving into the house next door is a handsome 17-year-old boy, Court Foster. Court & Dani froms a friendship, & they're attracted to each other. Through Court, Dani experiences her 1st true & perfect love. But when Court meets Maureen, the sparks really fly, & Maureen falls in love w/ him, too. The once-close sisters turn into rivals when Maureen is torn between holding back her love for Court, or accepting his love & betraying her sister. When a sudden tragedy strikes, they're forced to draw strength from their powerful familial bond. (found & altered from blockbuster.com & rottentomatoes.com)
05/11 - Happy Mother's Day to my mommy
!!! it's the day before my POL 336 final exam. i'm so scared & nervous. yet i find myself trying to finish reading Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason (the sequel to Bridget Jones's Diary) instead of studying. yes
, i finally i finished reading the book. gosh, i really love
the book
! Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason is wickedly funny
& romantic. in my opinion, it's the modern version of Jane Austen's Persuasion & her other books. man, i've been reading Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason & Bridget Jones's Diary the past couple of days, & i think
i'm going to start talking
& thinking
like her. oh no
!!! ha ha
..wanna shag
? here's a synopsis of the book: It's is the continuation of Bridget Jones's diary picking up 4
weeks later w/ Bridget & Mark Darcy's "honeymoon" already over. In addition to discovering the man of her dreams vote conservative, left-leaning Bridget is feeling a bit uncomfortable w/ the realities of sharing bed & apartment w/ another person. But all those problems are insignificance w/ the arrival of Rebecca, a beautiful, man-hunting archnemesis w/ no girlfriend code of ethics when it comes to poaching another woman's man. Rebecca's manipulations, Bridget's own insecurities, & a string of misunderstandings result in Bridget & Mark's break-up. Fortunately, Bridget has other problems to distract her: her mother has returned from a trip to Kenya w/ a young Masai to her father's consternation, her best friends Jude, Shazzer, & Tom are all trapped in dating hell themselves, her apartment is in shambles thanks to a carpenter, an unreliable ex-boyfriend re-enters her life, & now someone is sending Bridget death threats. If Bridget Jones's Diary was a modern riff on Pride & Prejudice, its sequel borrows themes & devices from another Austen novel, Persuasion. As in Austen's fiction, here the journey is the destination, & a happy-ending for Bridget & her pals is a foregone conclusion--how they get there, however, will have you on the edge of your chair if you haven't already fallen off of it laughing. (found & altered from amazon.com)
05/10 - Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding is a fantastic & amazing book
! the movie & the book are somewhat different, but wonderful individually nonetheless. i'm amazed
how much Bridget Jones's Diary parallels Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice. Bridget Jones's Diary is the modern version, but much more wittier & hilarious
. i'm gonna add the book to my list of fav. books, & start reading the sequel Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason..hee hee
. here's a synopsis
of the book: The course of a year is recorded in Bridget Jones's diary. She's a 30-something Londoner w/ a mid-level publishing job, & is the singleton heroine that confides her hopes & her dreams in her diary while also tallying the cigarettes smoked, alcohol units consumed, & pounds gained or lost. In a series of delightfully funny diary entries, she deals her attempt to keep @ least keep 1 New Year's resolution, have dates w/ 2 boyfriends, create legendary cooking disasters, & is seen on national TV going up a firehouse pole instead of the planned dramatic slide down. If that wasn't enough, her mom started a new career as the host of the TV program 'Suddenly Single', & became an unrepentent adultrous disappearing w/ a Portuguese gigolo. Supported by friends & confused by family, Bridget emerges, if not triumphant, @ least hopeful about life & love after a brief affair w/ her handsome rogue boss Daniel, & continual push by her parents to date their friend's son, wealthy attorney Mark Darcy. Bridget will navigate culinary disasters, mood swings, & scary publishing parties while worrying about her parents, talking endlessly w/ her cronies, & maybe, just maybe, hooks up w/ a nice boyfriend. (found & altered from amazon.com)
05/07 - took my Chinese oral exam today. i sucked so bad
. i can kiss my B good-bye now. all i can do now is try maintain the C i'm getting now..poo
. i studied so much & i froze
.
05/06 - my Chinese class was fun
today. the professor (laoshi) brought in a t.v. & had the class watch
3 Chinese music videos. he also gave the class a hand-out of the translation of the Chinese song & it's lyrics in Chinese characters--quite interesting. Chinese rock..it's different, but i prefer Chinese pop songs. then my WS 462 after Chinese was optional today because it was going to be a study review session. since i'm a good girl
, i attended the optional class. i gotta do everything i can to get @ least 2 A's this semester. ugh
..i got my ES 331 (Chinese in hawaii) final exam tomorrow. i was just studying for it before i decided to take a little break to write this entry. well, wish me luck
!!
05/05 - Happy Boys' Day
!!!!
05/03 - hey there. i didn't get home from the party 'til 4:50 AM. boy am i feeling exhausted
today. well, @ the party last night i didn't feel as much awkwardness
as i thought
i would in a room full of strangers. @ 1st i wasn't feeling comfortable @ the party, but as soon as i got some drinks down it wasn't that bad. i guess i got used to the environment, & i felt a bit more comfortable to strike up conversations w/ the people there. usually in those type of situations i'd clam up & fade into the background. i met
this nice guy who's a t.a. @ UH-Manoa for a chemistry lab. there were several other guys i met
through my sisters. now i know who she's w/ @ parties. wow
, my 1st college party was interesting. yups
, it was my 1st college party. doesn't that tell you alot 'bout my social life
?? i've got 2 years of college under my belt, & i only recently went to my 1st college party. being a commuting student makes it tough to form friendships w/ other people in school. i'm supposed to go to a karaoke thing to celebrate Anna's belated b-day, but my head is pounding & my flu symptoms are back. i might end up skipping it instead. i'm a horrible friend. damn it. every weekend my flu symptoms (running nose, slight fever, sneezing, etc.) flare up...Urgh
!!
05/02 - guess what
? apparently i'm going to a house party w/ my older sis tonight. there's going to be a lot of guys attending the party, & i guess her friend wanted to even out the ratio of guys & girls. i'm gonna be there more as a designated driver than anything else. i don't
know anybody who's going to the house party, so i'm hoping the night won't be too awkward & weird
for me. some other great
news is that the korean drama Secrets will begin re-airing on KBFD tonight--yea
!! Secrets 1st aired back in 2000, & got me hooked in watching
korean dramas. i can't wait to watch
it again
! now here comes my movie review...hee hee
. i watched
the Chocolat dvd yesterday. the film has a very international & magical feel too it. i'm a chocolate lover
, & seeing
all the different varieties of magnificent & yummy-licious chocolates made my
mouth water
. Chocolat was a great film. it sorta had a Amelie feel.
Synopsis: In 1959, the most tempting of all sweets becomes the key weapon in a battle of sensual pleasure versus disciplined self-denial in a small French village. A mysterious Vianne Rocher & her young daughter move into the village, & open a chocolate shop right across of the local Catholic church just as lent is beginning. The community's activities are dominated by the church, & Comte de Reynaud, the village's mayor, is not the least bit amused. He tries his best to run Vianne & her chocoloate shop out of town before she leads the village into a deeper level of temptation. However, Vianne's warm personality & incredible chocolates manage to win over many townsfolk while they're supposed to be abstaining from worldly pleasures. W/ every passing day, more & more of Vianne's neighbors are succumbing to her sinfully delicious treats while she helps Josephine out of her abusive marriage, & her equally free-thinking landlord, Amande Voisin, get together w/ her grandson Luc whose mother doesn't approve of Amande's ways. Handsome Irish Gypsy Roux, another new arrival, helps Vianne plan a "Grand Festival of Chocolate," to be held on Easter Sunday. (found & altered from imdb.com & blockbuster.com)
05/01 - [singing...] May Day is Lei Day in Hawai'i...
wow
, the things that happened today sure brought May in w/ a bang. i had a pretty good day in school, & didn't stay long @ the restaurant. i got a call from my bro
in the afternoon requesting me to pick him up in school, which shouldn't happened unless he was in trouble. here's the funny
part, his teacher wouldn't let him use the bathroom w/ the class ending within a few minutes when he really needed to pee. as soon as he ran out of the class after the bell rang, he accidently peed in his pants...
!!! probably he was so anxious of getting to the bathroom that the excitment in running to the bathroom got to him. ain't that funny
? i'm hoping he won't get too much teasing
from his classmates tomorrow. these type of things can really hurt a kid his age. then i hear my younger sis's car died out, & needed the battery charger to get it started up. and in the coming weeks, i'll be stressed
out & @ the edge of losing my sanity. why do you ask
?? finals are coming up...
