- my 1st day selling on the floor @ Macy's
was today, & i think ...
it went alright. i gotta get used to a lot of things. luckily i didn't
encounter any mean customers, & learned a whole lot. the handbags
Macy's carry (especially the Coach
bags) are so cute =), & i drool just thinking ...
'bout them & how much i want them. hmm ...i
need to wait 'til i've save enough $$ to buy myself a Coach
bag. thankfully i've got an employee discount that'll help the wait
be shorter. |

- Spring break is over, & classes are back in session ...
there's nothing real exciting going on now, except for me starting my
1st day on the floor @ Macy's tomorrow
afternoon. well, there's the internet problem i've got for my labtop.
i'm still trying to get the wireless
router to work, so i can finally get internet access on my brand new
labtop. since i've got nothing else to mention, i'm gonna be writing
a bunch of movie reviews. during my Spring Break, i watched
the new A&E movie The
Last King several times even though it's 4 hrs. long. i wasn't
expecting myself to find such intrigue & enjoyment
in The Last King @ 1st 'cause i
thought it was gonna be boring
since it was about 1 of England's
kings. however, the movie was just so well made that i was drawn into
the story & its ideals & principles. plus, i found the actor
playing the king, Rufus Sewell,
was quite dashing & handsome though his characters' whorish
ways were a turn-off. Synopsis: The dramatic & romantic
story of King Charles 2 of England, the raucous gambler known asthe “merry monarch.” He was the last king to rule before Parliament completely took over the British government. King Charles 2 was a lover of the arts, a ruthless political survivor, a possible sex addict, & the man who swept England into a new era of modernism & democracy. He had over a dozen children w/ his many mistresses, yet his only marriage provided no heir. This is the ribald saga of King Charles 2 from his youthful exile in the Netherlands to his secret deathbed conversion to Catholicism during a period England was torn between Catholics & Protestants. His reign was marked by revenge, plague, intrigue, pleasure, & romance. (found & altered from aande.com) ). i watched
A Knight's Tale for the 1st time
this past weekend on NBC. i thought
the movie was gonna be alright, but i found it much better than i
had expected. modern specks thrown in to the medieval time period
of the film was genius & delightful. plus, it was great to see
a Hawaii-born actress (Shannyn Sossamon)
as the lead opposite handsome Heath Ledger
. Synopsis: This medieval adventure
tale is loosely inspired by Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales,
& mixes anachronistic elements of modern-day rock music &
colloquialisms w/ the period setting & characters. William Thatcher
is a low-born 14th-century squire who has a gift for jousting. After
his master suddenly dies, William hits the road w/ his 2 fellow
squire friends Roland & Wat. On their journey, they stumble
across unknown writer Geoffrey Chaucer. William lacks the proper
pedigree to compete in jousting tournaments, & convinces Geoffrey
to forge genealogy documents that'll pass him off as a knight. W/
his newly-minted status, William (now known as Sir Ulrich Von Lichtenstein
of Gelderland) sets out to prove himself a worthy knight @ the country's
jousting competition, & finds romance in Jocelyn. However, his
success & his life would be put in danger when his most fiercest
competitor, Count Adehmar, reveals Sir Von Lichtenstein's secret.(found & altered from imdb.com & blockbuster.com) |

- it's Spring Break & i've got big news
!!! it's been a while since i've written 'cause the Road Runner
@ my house has been down. however, the Road Runner man came yesterday
to check out the problem, & fixed it w/ a booster to get a stronger
cable signal for the internet. now i can finally share my happy news.
everyone brace yourself...i finally got me a job !!! whoo hoo whoo
hoo! !! i applied to Macy's weeks ago online, & got a call for an
interview this past Wednesday. then i got a call the next day w/ the
job offer--whoo hoo !! yesterday
i went in to do some paperwork, & began my training right after
'cause i wasn't busy. the training is all on the computer, & goes
@ my own pace. i went to Macy's (Ala
Moana) today to continue my training, & i'll be going again
tomorrow 'cause i'm still not done. then after that, i'll find out my
schedule from my manager. so do you wanna know what department i'll
be in, & what i'll be doing ??? well, i'm 1 of the new sales
associate in the handbags department. so far i'm really happy for the

Day!! Happy St. Patty's Day! |

03/15
- i haven't written in days 'cause i've been lazy or needed to do other
things online... . however, things
have happened in the 4 days i didn't write. this past Saturday,
my family & i (minus my dad) unexpectedly went to Hong
Kong Orchid for dinner. i love Chinese food (or
Zhongguo fan in Mandarin), so i had absolutely no
qualms 'bout going there to eat. i had won ton noodle soup, which was
alright. the deep-fried tofu dumplings were quite scrumptuous
, & the beef & vegetable
chow funn was delicious .
on
Sunday i went w/ my parents to CompUSA to check out their sale--especially
for laptops. boy was it packed down there. it was hard to flag CompUSA
employees for help @ times 'cause
it was that crowded. anyway, i saw
a good sale price for a Sony VAIO K13 notebook. the laptop is
quite chunky & heavy compared to others, but i thought
it was a pretty good trade-off for the brand & quality. after a
while of thinking about it
& conferring w/ my parents &
older, i bought the Sony VAIO K13 notebook. my long searchsEE!
for a laptop has finally ended. now i go on a new adventure of figuring
out how to work it. the laptop has a built-in integrated wireless internet
connection, but i don't how to get it to work. oh well. yeah, i also
got a free Kodak digital camera for buying a laptop @ CompUSA...hee
hee ! i can sell off the digital
camera to get some $$ to help pay for the laptop. well, i gotta start
studying for my next midterm that's on Thursday. bye.... |

- i had my 2nd Chinese oral presentation today yups.. the oral
isn't that difficult. you just have to stand in front of the class,
& talk about a subject in Mandarin. luckily my professor
is quite leniant, so i gave my little speech by reading off from a paper
in which i had prepared a paragraph to say. after i finished talking,
the professor asked some questions ,
& i responded to the best of my ability. & then that's it. lol
!, my Mandarin speaking/listening/understanding
skills aren't too good, so my professor was quite easy on me. hmm ...she
actually didn't ask me much questions
compared to my classmates. i guess she just wanted to move on to the
next person, & let me go 'cause she pities me. oh well. as long
as i didn't have to stay up there for too long looking
like a complete fool . okie, now
i wanna talk about Johnny Depp's
new movie, Secret Window. his movie
won't be released 'til this Friday, but my older
sis, younger bro, &
i watched it last night
@ Ward Theaters @ the screening. my older sis got free screening
tickets for Secret Window from UH's
school paper, the Ka Leo. my opinion of Secret
Window is...it's a great movie !!!
from the beginning 'til the end, i was spooked .
right from the beginning, the mood is quite intense w/ quirky/funny
comments spread through out the movie to lighten it up a little. Johnny
Depp's performance was wonderful !!
i'm a big fan of his from his 21 Jump Street
& Nightmare on Elm Street days.
i don't like Johnny Depp grungy
look , but you can't deny
how good & versatile he is as an actor. go watch Johnny
Depp peoples--it's really good !!! it's thrilling !! the ending is trippy ! Synopsis: Mort Rainey, a successful
author, is going through a hard period in his life. After catching
his wife sleeping w/ another man, he is in the process of finalizing
the divorce, & crippled by "writer's block". 1 day @
Mort's remote lake house, a man named John Shooter appears @ his doorstep,
& accuses him of plagarizing his story--1 which he titled 'Secret
Window'. The 2 stories are almost identical, but Mort believes the
mis- understanding can be solved once he shows Shooter the original
version that was written & printed years in advance in a literary
magazine. Shooter threatens Mort to get the original to show him in
3 days or else he'll be a dead man. Strange & horrific events
then begin to happen. Mort is convinced Shooter is the culprit of
all the horrific incidents, & is racing to get Shooter out of
his life. (found & altered from blockbuster.com) Secret
Window (w/ about 20 mins. left), i had to pee. i
had been holding it in since halfway through the movie 'cause i didn't
wanna miss any part of the movie, but then i needed to go badly just
when the movie was about to begin wrapping up. lol ,
i had to pass through about 10 people to get out of my row (blocking
their view), & out to the bathroom. when i returned, the storyline
of Secret Window was getting really good & @ the most climatic
scene. i wanted to go back to my seat to finish the movie, but i didn't
wanna block anyone's view .
i stood @ the end of the row comtemplating whether or not i should
try get back to my seat while seeing
everyone in the theatre glued to the screen. the girl @ the end saw
me & waved her hand that i could go back in, & so i began
my journey back to my seat. on my journey, i accidently lightly kicked
some people & stepped on several toes. i apologized softly &
frantically !! while trying to
get back to my seat. lol , there
was this 1 girl in which i had stepped on both her foot. mind you,
i don't have my weight on my 1st leg, so i'm lightly stepping on people's
toes & foot. but that girl winced
in pain when i accidently stepped on her foot as if a boulder just
fell on her. i quickly tried to move my feet again to get off her
foot, but only ended up on her other foot. i'm now frantically
apologizing to her & trying to move along as fast as i could while
the other people aren't even trying to help me get through. the girl
i stepped on didn't try remove her foot from under me once i stepped
on her. even after i got off her 1st foot, she just kept her leg &
foot out there, so i accidently stepped on the other foot. i felt
bad i caused her a little pain
the commotion i was causing trying to pass through to get back to
my seat. if you don't wanna move, you're only gonna get stepped on.
remember that people the next time you go watch
a movie @ the theatre.

- i just finished watching
Frequency
on ABC. wow , Frequency
was a great movie. there were so many twists & turns in the plot
that i couldn't stop watching
'cause i was on the edge of my seat wondering
what was gonna happen next. the 1st hour of the movie was similar to
the Korean film Ditto, &
the rest was an interesting race to find a serial killer to stop a murder
from occurring. i must admit...@ 1st i wasn't expecting much from Frequency,
but as the storyline kept evolving so did my opinion. the performances
of Dennis Quaid & James
Caviezel were fantastic. Synopsis: John Sullivan, a New York
police detective, has never recovered from the death of his father
Frank, a New York City firefighter, who died heroically in a warehouse
fire when John was a boy. Then a rare atmospheric phenomenon allows
Frank to communicate w/ his son 30 years in the future via a HAM radio.
John uses the opportunity to warn his father of his impending death,
which saves his life. However, what he does not realize is that the
reversal of his father's death has triggered a new set of tragic events--including
the murder of his mother by a serial killer. Now John in the present
& Frank in the past must try to uncover the killer's identity
to reverse another tragic event before it's too late.(found & altered from blockbuster.com) here's the update for school: i got a B- for my Chinese oral exam, & the HIST 282 quiz was turned in to a review sheet for the midterm that's on Monday. i'm so grateful for my B-. the oral exam went a little better than i expected. i actually was able to somewhat carry a conversation w/ my professor in Mandarin. that's wonderful since i took the oral exam much earlier than i had arranged to. i came to school much earlier that Friday to do extra preparation for the oral. my professor saw me waiting outside of the classroom, & asked
if i wanted to take the oral @ that time. hee hee ...i was there
30 mins. before my exam, & was there before the 1st person to
take it that day @ 8 a.m.. LOL , i was sweating so much through
the oral exam, & was so glad when i finally left the classroom.

- the most loveliest day for girls has arrived...it's Hinamatsuri
!! Hinamatsuri is a Japanese tradition
that's celebrated every March 3rd. "Hina" means dolls &
"matsuri" means a festival. Families w/ young girls display
hinaningyo [hina dolls dressed in old court costume that are placed
on tiers], peach blossoms, & shirozake [white sake] in their home
to wish for happiness for their girls. The hina are supposed
to protect girls from sickness or misfortune. so that's the story of
Girls' Day. okie...now on to other things. there was a black-out this
morning as i was putting on my make-up & getting ready to head off
to school (or to the mall ). LOL , that sure made my attempt to
finish putting on my make-up @ my bedroom window w/ the little light
that came from the rising morning sun. an hour later, the electricity
was still out. i thought the black-out was confined only to my
neighborhood, but apparently it stretched from Hawaii Kai to Waikiki.
since many of the traffic lights were out on my way to school &
back, driving through interesections became quite a scary problem since
the police weren't @ the scene yet to direct traffic. @ most interesections
i drove through, it was stop & go @ a good speed that was below
the posted speed limit yups.. it's events like that which reminds me
how unpredictable life is, & thankfully shakes up my mundane life
on this little island. |

- it's just another day of school for me. yesterday i had my Chinese
quiz, & i'll be taking the oral exam on Friday. but before that,
i'll be taking my ICS lecture midterm on Thursday. LOL , my HIST 282 midterm was scheduled for yesterday on the syllabus, but the professor
didn't say anything to the class on Friday. i didn't even remember hmm...
'til Sunday night when i checked the syllabus. since the professor had
postponed the 2nd quiz & didn't mention the midterm, i figured (i
hoped & prayed) that the professor would postpone the midterm as
well. luckily, he did . either way, i've got lots of studying to do
this week. .... |
