COLORING A GREY WORLD

By azn-otaku

Crossover: Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, and Ranma

A/N: For all the old and new readers, this is 'Coloring A Grey World'. Remember, the old title was 'Sunshine: Part One'!

But for all those who didn't know, I wanted to re-write my old fic for a long time now. Even as new chapters kept getting written, I always thought this fic would be so much better if the older chapters were flowing better, or there were different characters fleshed out, etc. There was so much I wanted to do with this fic!

So...I ended up scrapping the old project and starting anew.

I don't want to ramble; I just had a few things to say. My prologue may turn out confusing, I hope I explain things well enough at the end of each chapter. But the prologue is divided into two parts, since my protagonists are Ranma (girl version) and Usagi. There are some readers who refuse to read fics where Ranma is turned into a girl, so I'll say this much: this can get complicated. Ranma (later on, Ranko) will be a girl. But there is also another Ranma. And both of them are real. If you're interested enough to read on, by all means, do. If not, I understand and I hope you will try reading some other stuff of mine! Some type of fics aren't for all people, but so far I've gotten good reviews on this so I think there will be others who like this story.

Okay, I really AM starting to ramble. This first prologue is focused on Ranma. Try to pay close attention; there are details as to what's happening sewn into the story!

DISCLAIMER: This will go for the entirety of 'Coloring A Grey World'. Ranma belongs to Rumiko Takahashi, Sailor Moon belongs to Naoko Takeuchi, and Gundam Wing belongs to Sunrise, Bandai, and whoever else is affiliated with the series! (I really have no idea, name a few in your mind why don't you?)

Prologue A: The Accursed

##-------##

You're wrong.

I haven't changed.

##-------##

[This is what you get, for hurting me.]

[For rejecting me.]

His wearisome eyes looked out over the red blood that splattered the cold cement floor. He ran a soft hand along a crack in the foundation, of what was left of the warehouse. His body was alone amidst the gore.

[It's your fault. You abandoned me.]

Happosai's words whispered in his ear like the final beatings of the funeral drums.

The bastard was next to him. Well...his head was anyways. The old man stared up into Ranma's own lingering blue grey eyes with a mixture of insanity and horror. It was at that last moment that Happosai realized he was planning on killing him. That he could no longer hold back his rage and had in fact, given in to the anger that threatened to engulf Ranma. Happosai had been surprised at first for the pigtailed boy never lost control, no matter how many times it seemed as if she had been furious in the past. Never THIS angry.

Ranma stared at Happosai as he lay there with nothing on and his female body opened up with large slashes of blood. They had taken the fight elsewhere, to spare the Tendous and the other Nerimans of seeing the gore. Ranma did not know when the blood started flowing, he did not care anymore. It did not matter that he would not live.

-Akane. You're alive...-

-Alive is good.-

As long as SHE was well, it did not matter whether Ranma lived or died. It was a matter of time before Happosai would go insane; they should have been prepared for the worst. They shouldn't have trusted him in the first place, goading him on with taunts. It shouldn't have gone so far. Ranma shouldn't have accepted his teasing, shouldn't have gotten him so angry.

It went too far. He threatened her loved ones. Akane.

[For abandoning me, I give you an accursed life.]

Shouldn't have made him angry enough to use that. That curse. Happosai was a powerful artist, as well as old enough to hoard enough magic that could ruin the Nerimans. Ranma should have known that when Happosai snapped, something would have to be sacrificed. He just didn't think that his manhood was have been it.

-Iie. I'm not a girl. Not really.-

He could feel the breasts and the slim hands. His eyes felt larger, his hair only slightly longer. The red bangs fell over his gaze as sweat clouded his vision. His eyesight was fading fast. With it, his fury. It felt like any normal sex change, except for the searing pain shooting through his veins. It was like white lava.

It hurt.

-But your curse didn't work...Bastard. I'm dying. There's no point in turning me into a full-blown girl now.-

-Besides, the curse couldn't have worked anyways. I'm not a girl.-

He felt the holy ash clinging onto his body as the breaths became slow and shallow. Most of it had been absorbed into the skin and his veins flowed with the white hot heat. But of course that could mean a number of things, didn't necessarily mean that the bastard's curse actually worked. Just because it had turned him into a momentary girl for the battle. Didn't mean he was stuck in the form. Because he was dying. And it didn't matter.

The blood appeared to be washing off his skin as if he were crinkling up like a newborn baby. Smoothness like a child's, he felt reborn. Like the phoenix. It was as if he were becoming a spirit...drifting to afterlife.

-Doesn't matter anyways.-

As the light turned black, he smiled.

-I wish you a happy life Akane. You're safe.-

Ranma would die, as he had wanted to. Protecting his loved ones from a monster. Happosai was a monster. It didn't matter that he had tried to curse Ranma's body before up and dying, because Ranma would be dead soon anyways. The curse couldn't have worked, Ranma would be a man as he died alone in the warehouse. Nothing Happosai had said would come true. He was not a female at all.

A white searing pain coursed through Ranma's body.

A/N: Um...yeah. For all of those who haven't read 'Sunshine' before, I made this prologue into two parts. The first one is of Ranma right after her final battle with Happosai. If you didn't get it from the chapter, he had been cursed by Happosai during their final battle, in which Happosai claimed Ranma to be permanently female. And I should hope that this was obvious, but Ranma had killed Happosai. I'm making the battle really sketchy so that details are not well known. It's not that important to the storyline, so I decided not to add too many vital details that would screw me over in later chapters. Don't worry, Ranma isn't dead yet.

I hoped to make everyone as in-character as I could for this fic. To me, Ranma isn't superhuman, though he is super-powerful. He's the best Artist in the world. But he's not some bloodthirsty warrior or anything. Ranma does lose sometimes; he just gets right back into the fight with more determination. And in my mind, Ranma is actually laid-back and enjoys teasing others rather than going all-out. Even with Ryouga, Ranma jokes around before getting into the heat of the battle. So I like the idea of him goading Happosai so much that the old man just snapped. You know? It makes sense, if the Nerimans' escapades continued on for long enough.

So...please don't turn away if this happens to be slightly confusing! I try to make things as straightforward as I can, but this will be an epic story, and things are complicated. I try to explain anything confusing in my author's notes (both before and after chapters), so keep reading these things in case there's any important information!
