BACK TO FEMALE WARRIORS
We then took the time to ask about how her character, The SPELLBINDER was first developedShe explained to us, "Well, when I first started wrestling, I was just interested in getting all the moves down, learning some holds, and trying not to get hurtI really wasn't thinking about any type of character at allin fact I just wrestled in a leotard, usually a swimsuit kind of thing like I have on now (it was an attractive, low-cut white bathing suit) and boots. I even experimented wrestling bare-footed because I thought it would help me with my balanceI still do that sometimes, but not very often, it really hurts when your opponent steps on your feet, I mean this isn't exactly ballet or a fashion show!" She laughs againWe asked her what she thought about current wrestlers like Trish Stratus and her ring attire. "It definitely is a unique look, very provocative (though many consider The Spellbinder's own look quite risque' in its own right; whether it be her low cut, no back swimsuits or her black leotards with the lacy midriffs)Anyway, sometimes you just dress for comfort but people think it's too provocativeI always thought the Golden Age ladies dressed conservatively but were very beautiful. I grew up watching them  and sometimes a little mystery is a good thingI would like to get in the ring and have a match with some of the WWE women like Trish someday it really is about how you wrestle and NOT what you wear." And then she added a little more more about the Spellbinder character: "I suppose the character developed over time, her costumes and persona. She is a part of me and not a part of me at the same time. She definitely really takes over in the ring and takes more chances than I ever would with her curtain call move and such. I notice sometimes I am deeply into her character before I even go into the ring, almost possessed by her somehow, which gives me strength; but then sometimes I dress much more like a conventional lady wrestler and shes not quite there as much, an interesting dichotomy I suppose"She then finishes her thoughts: "and The Spellbinder is also sort of based on this movie with Jane Russell I saw when I was a kid so let me give her credit, too; She was playing this beautiful dancer that traveled around with a band of Gypsies. She was beautiful, smart, athletic, and really tough all at the same timeshe was sort of a Gypsy Queen I suppose, so I guess if I am trying to represent anything with The Spellbinder character is that I'm trying to be a Gypsy Queen of the Wrestling world, everyone else will have to judge how successful I am; To put on a good show, and win as many matches as possible are my two main goals"
FWs couldnt let this interview pass without concluding it by asking The Spellbinder about the Internet rumors that she has been left an inheritance from a relative and this is one of the reasons that she is able to pursue her wrestling career in this current economic climateShe hesitated a bit, seemingly not sure if she would answer this question with the familiar no comment line that you get from so many sports stars these days when they are asked a question that hits a little to close to homeBut then she answered honestly, slowly and contemplatively, Wrestling is the love of my life. You experience so many things being involved with the world of wrestling that you wouldnt experience anywhere else, both in and out of the ring. With my talent and ability I believe I could make a living doing this for a long while, irregardless. Then she added, It is true that I inherited a bit of money once, but I got good advice from friends and invested it wisely. Maybe because of that I am able to do some things that I ordinarily wouldnt be able to doWith the extra money, hopefully, I can help out some of the young girls just breaking into wrestling. There seems to be a lot of them out there. Im glad I can do that. I mean they are the future and some of them are incredibly talented. Someone like
Christie Ricci will have a great career in wrestling if she stays  with it... Also, I would like to be able to promote some shows later on when Im not wrestling as muchAnyway, I hope that clears up the rumors.
By this time, the SB explained she had to say goodbye to our reporter because she still had a few other pressing engagements she had to get to that daySo all we can say to her is, "Thanks for taking time for us, SB and Good-luck and Godspeed in all your upcoming battles
