Hornby Gresley Teak Coaches:
These models have been around a fair few years now and although they are only a scale 57ft long (Gresley Coaches were 61ft long in reality) they are still a reasonable representation, new versions are fitted with good quality metal wheel sets unlike the horrible plastic sets fitted to older examples.Horby make three types of teak coach,Composite 1st/3rd (shown) , 1st/3rd Brake Composite & 1st sleeping car. As these coaches don't fit in well with scale length coaches built from ,say, Ian Kirk kits, one needs to be pretty well versed at kitbashing to create the various other types of Gresley coaches (I 'll have an example on the page soon)
Hornby Pullman Cars:
These models have been around since the 70's but in my opinion they're still a nice model and the quality of the paint finish is very good even if the rest of the model is looking a bit dated.
Hornby are releasing new super detailed Pullmans in 2003 so I'll have one on the page as soon as I get some.
The LNER ran Pullman trains such as the Yorkshire Pullman & West Riding Pullman as well as it's own in house expresses.
Restaurant Car from Hornby Composite Coach.
As mentioned earlier,Hornby only offer a few versions of Gresley coaches so any others have to be kitbashed. This is my effort at a 1st class Restaurant Car

News:
Hornby have recently (2003) released new Pullmans that are a dramatic improvement on the old models & have announced the release of new scale length Teak coached for late 2004
New Hornby Pullmans
These really are the nicest coaches I have ever come across, the detail is superb. The new pullmans also have some neat features such as working table lamps that remain at a constant brightness when on the move & they have a close coupling set up that keeps the vestibules butted up on straights but allows them to negotiate tight curves as well. The new Pullmans are more expensive than the old version but the extra features & detail more than make up for the difference in price.
New Hornby Gresley Teaks.
Ok, Where to start.Relaesed in NZ in December 2004. These things are an absolute world away from the older teaks they replace, the teak finish is now painted on and it looks really good, some people have critisised it for not being 100% correct but if you need to be that fussy, you should probably have a go at producing it yourself and see how you get on.Hornby have now got 5 versions available, Corridor 1st, Corridor 3rd, Composite Brake, Buffet & Sleeper. All are now the correct length, about 14mm longer than the old ones and have improved bogies, couplings, lets be honest, everthing is much better. They're not cheap but then again, still much cheaper than anything with Marklin written on it so go get some, you'll like them...I promise.
