These pictures show my Resaurant car from both sides. I needed two Composite body shells to make this coach as restaurant cars have large windows both sides. Hornby's coach bodies are one piece moldings so the corridor side from one & the compartment side of the other had to be sawn off and then the corridor side refitted where the compartment side had been removed, this leaves a compartment side with roof & sawn off compartment side spare (to make something else, start of a quad-art perhaps).I made up a simple interior using cardboard & glazed the windows with clear plastic. The coach rides on a Hornby coach chassis that has been fitted with Mailcoach Heavy Duty Bogies & had some representational detail added.
The idea behind building this coach was to have something a little different,it's not a scale model as the donor parts don't allow that, but it represents the real thing (sort of) and it fits in perfectly with a rake of Hornby Teaks.Parts for the model were purchased from Modelspares & Mainly Trains.
Pictures taken before I painted the extra boxes added to the chassis, they'll be black eventually
