Poem by Two Sixth Grade Boys:

Sept. 16, 2001

I was sitting in my class when I heard the terrible crash.
Later on that day, I heard George Bush speak.
Tears came to my eyes as I heard the people's cries.
Our flag stands for pride and no one will take it away
No matter how hard they try!

SOMEDAY I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN
(DEDICATED TO THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES ON 09-11-2001)
KAM STREATER

2001

Someday I will see you again my old friend
I will look for your face everywhere I go.
Every winter with the first snow I will think of you
And all of the wonderful things we used to do

My old friend
Everywhere I go I will look for your
In all the faces, I see
And I know in my heart that you
will be looking for me

You were taken from me so young,
and before I was ready to let go,
And only God knows how much I really miss you
But some day I will see you again my old friend
But until then I will pray for you

I thank God for our time spent together laughing

crying, and sometimes fighting,
But always forgiving each other you were
my best friend, my lover,
My sister, my brother, my father or mother

Someday I will see you again my old friend
Everywhere I go I will look for you in
all the faces, I see
And I know in my heart that you will
be looking for me

God Bless and keep you in His love, until I join
you someday, up above

THE LADY
Dana Holland

I wonder what she thought
As she stood there,
strong and tall.
She couldn't turn away,
She
was forced to watch it all.
Did she long to offer comfort
As her country bled?
With her arm forever frozen
High above her head.
She could not shield her eyes
She could not hide her face
She just stared across the water
Keeping Freedom's place.
The smell of smoke and terror
Somehow reduced her size
So small within the harbor
But still we recognized....
How dignified and beautiful
On a day so many died
I wonder what she thought,
And I know she must
have cried.

Because I Am
Sandra K. Fairchild

Sept. 13, 2001

For all those who have innocently fallen prey
To the horror and destruction of this dark day
and now lay silent - buried amidst black ash and broken rubble,
Know that I was there with them -
through their length of time - ever so humble . . .
Because I Am.

They were never- not even for one moment abandoned or alone.
I was there and held each of them ever so close -
as they are all my own . . . .
Because I Am.

I cried with them, all their frightened tears,
Felt and calmed all their deepest fears.
And as they passed from this world into mine -
I carried them . .
.
Because I Am.

I am watching over the rest of you now -
During your days of tremendous grief and sorrow.
And perhaps you haven't felt the presence of my eternal
love and grace -
For you have been visited by an unspeakable evil face.

I have traveled the path of tears
That journey their way down your face.
I have felt all the pain of your fears -
Those of which I cannot take away - nor erase.
But, my children, I will give you hope
and peace in its place . . .
Because I Am.

In these last few devastating days
That has touched all human life in so many ways -
You have seen the force of evil and the steadfast strength of good.
"What then", you may ask, "was the equation?"
Add a "D" to evil and you have "Devil."
Subtract an "O" from good - then perhaps it will be understood . . .
Who I Am.

I am God, the father and created you - destined for greatness.
And when your hearts, bodies and souls are tired

and filled with sadness -
Stand together - hand in hand - heart to heart -
united in My name
And know that God will Bless America . . .
Because I Am.

It started off a day just like any other,
Who knew that in a short time
they'd be running for cover.

Such evil forces took over the
U.S. that day,
but President G.W. Bush vowed
that they would pay.

Thousands of innocent lives that
day were lost,
because they chose the method of
terrorism at any cost.

The pictures of devastation are forever
etched in my mind,
because here in America we are taught
not to be that unkind.

Watching rescue teams digging
thru the debris,
No one will stop until all are found
believe you me.

The parents who have lost their
daughters and sons,
The spouses who have lost their loved ones.

God bless America from sea to
shining sea, for we live in a country
that is the land of the free.

Everyone thinks of changing the world,
but no one thinks of changing himself.
