This is a fictional company, please do not expect to be contacted if you fill out the form to request a quote.
The purpose of this website is to explore HTML5, CSS, and common elements associated with a modern website. In order to fulfill the purpose of this website, a common page template was developed that contains the same header and footer for each page on the site. CSS was utilized to ensure each page had the same overall theme such as background image, fonts, and colors.
I wanted to ensure that anyone who visited the page would quickly and easily understand what type of business the webpage was representing. This is primarily achieved with the business name, but the simple background image was also important in conveying the overall theme of the website. The color palette also helped convey the purpose of the website as I choose colors that are typically associated with lawns and the outdoors. The fonts used on the page were chosen to provide a contrast between the header and the content of the pages. For most users, they will see Times and Helvetica and these fonts are different enough to clearly separate content. The content for most pages, including this one, contains simple paragraphs, but these pages are for informational purposes only and users are unlikely to spend much time on these pages. The pages that represent the services offered by this company include an image representative of the service and a description of the service. Text and images for these pages alternate from left to right to provide a nice separation of the services.
Ideally, I would like to explore opportunites with this website that would not require filling out a form to get a quote. In order to achieve this goal I would like to include the ability to choose pictures that most closely resemble the type of yard that the customer has. For example, trimming/edging could represent a few minutes of work or a few hours of work depending on the amount of landscaping that someone has in their yard. Providing different pictures that represent a basic yard with a driveway and sidewalk, vs a yard that has several raised flowerboxes and decorative stones or mulch around trees would allow for a better estimate for the service(s) requested. I would also like to implement a shopping cart mechanism where the services can be chosen from pages displaying those services instead of having to fill out a form.
