Below are some photos of our "library." This room NEVER looks this neat. I had just rearranged this room and decided to take pictures so that I could remember what it looks like when it is neat :-) This room serves a lot of functions in our house, as it is where we store school supplies, important papers, craft supplies, and scrapbooking supplies. It isn't very big, so I have to keep it really organized, or it becomes a disaster area. It houses all of our books, and has a large desk in the center of the room. I like this arrangement because it enabled me to eliminate a separate table that the kids used when this desk was pushed against the wall. Now, they can sit around the outside edge while I sit on the other side. It makes it easy for me to go over their assignments with them. The chairs are folded and put into the closet when they aren't being used. The wall to the right that you cannot see has a large white board on it. The wall opposite of the desk is empty right now, but will house our timeline this upcoming year. Eventually I am going to put a futon on that wall for a comfy place to read, and for guests to sleep.

Behind the desk is a large matching file cabinet with the lamp on it. This holds all of our school files, which I have in hanging folders, color-coded by child. Child #1 has Blue, #2 has Red, and #3 has yellow and so on. This is where all of their assignments go after they have been graded. I finally did this a few years ago after I got tired of a frenzied paper sorting session right before our portfolio evaluation every year.

Our bookshelves are only organized by subject. I have heard of other homeschoolers who use the Dewey Decimal system to organize their books. I don't really feel that I have enough to justify all of the work. I try to keep the number of books we buy to really good ones or reference. The rest we get from the library.

This is a partial photo of our closet in the library. Thank goodness it is large. I stuffed every square inch of floor space with drawer towers from Sam's club. They are labeled so that everything gets put back where it belongs (well, atleast most of the time). Our school supplies share space with my scrapbooking supplies, craft supplies and games.
