My uncle, Dwight Rudolph Moore, started his farm in 2003 with a dream to live off the land and to also provide the surrounding people with an organic option. He only had acres of land, 1 bull and 4 heifers. Since then, he has over 25 cows, a chicken coop full of chickens and rich soil that has produced some of the best fruits and vegetables. He continues to ensure that his customers will have quality produce. This website gives customers the option to buy this produce. Once the order comes in, it will be delivered by one of the hands on Moore's Farm. This is a local business, but my uncle hopes to increase his reach as he garners more customers. Come on in and order some produce!
The purpose of this website was to inform our customers of the produce we have and to also give them an opportunity to order it online. I first started with what produce I wanted to sell. I then grouped them on pages based off their type. Afterwards I placed a related background and ensured the background color and font color matched and everything was legible.
Since this was a farm website, I chose green as the background to represent grass. For the majority of the pages, the font was white. On other pages, I changed it to black because the words were not legible with the background. On my draft, I had the background image covering the whole page. I used the advice from one of my classmates and made the image smaller and centered. I tried to make site as fluid as possible. All pages are linked and easy to navigate from a customer's standpoint. All produce is logically separated so they will not have to bounce from page to page. It is simple and to the point.
In the future, I would like to make the shopping part of the site better. I would like to make sure that the customer's order will not get lost as they go from page to page. I would also make the page look more professional. Right now I feel the website serves its purpose, but as time goes and more customers come, the site would need reflect the professionalism the farm has.
