| Founded in December, 2008, Red Lion Publications is a small publisher operating out of Port Stanley Ontario, Canada. It's initial focus will be comics with its first title, Red Lion Spotlight, slated for a fall 2009 release. After its release over the next four years Red Lion Publications plans to expand its line to include additional comics titles, trade paperbacks, magazines and books.
Here are the folks behind Red Lion Publications. JONATHAN "A" GILBERT: Co-founder, publisher and writer/editor of Red Lion Publications, Jonathan "A" Gilbert has been a freelance writer and newspaper reporter since 1976 and has worked for magazines, newspapers, radio, television and comics. He entered the comics field in 1989 and has had work published by Brainstorm Comics, Blue Moon Comics Group, Abyss Comics, Intercomics, Caliber Comics under its Tome Press imprint, CE Publishing Group, New Voice Productions, Fan-Atic Press and Silver Griffin Comics. He has also edited for Blue Moon Comics Group, CE Publishing Group and Silver Griffin Comics. As well as being publisher and writer/editor for Red Lion Publications Jonathan "A" Gilbert continues to do freelance writing and is also writing a comics review and commentary blog that can be found at http://dispatchesfromthegreatwhitenorth.blogspot.com LLOYD SMITH: Co-founder, writer/editor and company techmeister extraordinaire, Lloyd is an educator, gospel singer/songwriter, comicbook historian, and former Blue Moon Comics publisher (where he wrote/created features like Kragor, Ultimus, Mercury, Black Rose, and Power Corps). In his secret identity as the Groovy Agent, Lloyd writes about the far-out comics of the 1970s on his blog, Diversions of the Groovy Kind. STEVE SKEATES: Comics creator, writer and living legend who has written for just about every comics company in the 1960s and 1970s and whose published comics work includes comics starring Aquaman, Underdog, Fightin' Five, Captain Fear, Hawk & Dove, Blackhawk, Supergirl and Challengers of The Unknown just to name a few. He is also the creator/writer of Tyro Team, Prince Targo and Stateside Mouse. WARREN MONTGOMERY: While holding down a day job as a purchasing supervisor at the "Red Lion Hotel on the River" (no relation) in Portland Oregon, comics inker and letterer Warren Montgomery has spent the past thirteen years doing web design work ( see www.warrenmontgomery.com ). His previous comics work has been for Boneyard Press, Blue Moon Comics Group, London Night Studios and two 112-page hard cover books for Lydia Venieri published by Reprotime Editions. For Red Lion Publications, Warren will be working on a variety of comics including Mister Chameleon. When Warren is not doing comics or web design he is working on a book about his personal experiences as a prostate cancer survivor. |
