REM demands Hej Matematik... and it backfires (07/03/2009)

Some days ago, REM accused Søren Rasted's band, Hej Matematik, of plagiarism. REM claimed that Hej Matematik's hit single Walkman copied elements of their song Supernatural Superserious (2008). However, this accusation has turned over because as you know, Walkman officially uses elements from Michael Hardinger's 1981 song, Walk, Mand!. Hej Matematik had permission from Hardinger himself to use these elements, and he even joined the band onstage for some performances. Now REM and their label Universal will have to apologize, and they may even have to face a suit for plagiarism of Hardinger's original song. What goes round... comes around.

Hej Matematik were already accused of plagiarism by some Coldplay's fans for the same song, Walkmand but the case was dismissed because of the same reason. Good thing is that because of these unfortunate situations, Hej Matematik are gaining more and more international attention.
