A new "old" Aqua song? (24/06/2005)

You may have heard or read about a supposed Aqua song called "Truth will set you free". Even the often reliable and useful Discogs website lists it as a true Aqua song.

"Truth will set you free" was actually featured in a rare dance compilation released (in both CD and vinyl formats) on 15/03/1995 by the label Vox Lumania, an EMI Music division. The catalogue number of the CD release was "53954".

This was the tracklist of the album:

  • Euterpe - Tribal India
  • Dimension 23 - Fascination
  • Pandora's Box - Screwed
  • Chez - Groove II
  • Jennifer Starr - Hurtin' inside
  • Lab Rat - Secrets
  • Mr. Koolaid - Can you dig it
  • D.A.L.I. - Blue
  • Euterpe - Jahcai
  • Aqua - Truth will set you free
  • John Wilmer - Eastern Tribe
  • Zon - Camouflage

Interestingly enough, the year of release of this compilation (1995), it's the same year that the four Aqua members met and formed their first band, JOYspeed. This fact is just a misleading hint, though.

Because Aquarama.tk can now confirm you that "Truth will set you free" has nothing to do with the Aqua that we all know, despite of sharing the same group name. "Truth will set you free" was written by G. Moseley & D. Clark, and produced & mixed by ZeO.

Neither Sren Rasted, Claus Noreen, Ren Dif or Lene Nystrm were part of this project. In the first months of 1995, they had just met and were busy at Kpenhamm recording they first song together (under the name JOYspeed), "Itzy Bitzy Spider".

So don't get cheated: "Truth will set you free" was released by a totally different band also called Aqua which did not manage to release any other song later on. It was not the Aqua that we all know.
