Three "Facts of life (Claus Norren Remix)" reviews (04/02/2005)

I have to thank Louise from Aqua 2001 for doing the translation of reviews 1 & 2 from danish to english.

Review 1 (source: Tunemag.dk)

The best remix of Layboy I've heard so far comes somewhat surprisingly from Claus Norreen, who's made the wildest 80's-electro version out of Sren Rasted's Facts Of Life.

It starts like New Order's Blue Monday and takes it from there. It works really well, and if you think the original is too mellow for the dancefloor, you need to get your hands on this version!

Review 2 (source: Djz.dk)

So here we go- yet another review of a track, that's been dealt with by Djz.dk before. This time the subject is a remix, done by Sren Rasted's partner-in-crime from the Aqua days, Claus Norreen.

The radio waves have lately been swamped with amusing stories and spoken words from Lazyboy - on Facts of Life. Possibly a little overplayed by now, so that most people are looking forward to the next single from the album Lazyboy TV. The discotheques are full, to a high degree in connection with the release of a Rune RK remix, but no more than that. There will never be talk of a hit of those proportions on the dancefloor.

With its' electro sound, that sounds somewhat more poppy than Rune RK's house version, Mr. Norreen now tries to advise on it. Be warned - it is clearly the most accurate delivery of a version of this song to the dancefloor, if the population at large is to be satisfied, but I gradually feel, that this track has been exhausted.

Claus Norreen's music shows its' worth, in being well produced, and he uses a series of different sounds which are all well chosen. Among other things, synths, somewhat reminiscent of those that Swedish Antiloop used on 'In My Mind'. The general sound is very 'now' compared to the 80's electro-wave which inspired it, and that's coming down all around us at the moment.

But a cool sound, and good production alone are not enough to salvage a record. I still feel a little irritated by all these facts, which aren't as funny as the first time I heard them. Rumours in DJ-land suggest that not all these facts are true, but that's another story altogether.

Three dollar signs for a good offering of a more poppy remix, but "exhaustion-factor" in comparison to a new song, combined with a boring remix package with only one track, brings the rating down.

Review 3 (source: Dmcupdate.com)

I first heard this in Miami and have been waiting for it to arrive through my door ever since. Two twelves with mixes from Rune,Cagedbaby and Claus Norren. The Housey and chill out mixes from Cagedbaby are pretty decent but its Runes mixes that blow the roof off everytime. The female spoken facts vocal gets chopped up and imaginatively swapped around and the b-line is the best ive heard all year. Like Runes Calibra track this is destined to stay in the box for a long time!
